Where is the one place you have been and really loved that you would return too. Here is the twist... I want to know the place that surprized you into being better tgsn you had thought.

IMHO
Lived UP to the HYPE!

Filet with Mushroom risotto, pretzel bread, cheddar cheese soup....

Now will be on my list for EVERY Trip....

HUgs,
Mary

GF Cafe. It was pretty & relaxing. I thought it would be "dennys" type food. The Catch of the day I had was the best fish dish of the whole trip. Staff was good too. We have gone back quite a few times. Have enjoyed breakfast there too.

ITA!!!
cafe" sounded like a coffe house. we weren't impressed with Kona Cafe at Poly . (food was good, atmosphere, not so much).

the GFC was actually pretty fancy.. very pretty. good food, good service. got to go over to GF and exlpore the resort.

I really liked the atmosphere at mama melrose, and loved my pork chop. hubby, not so much.

I also was surprised to really like Yak and Yeti. and they told us they save tables for walk-ins! the cream cheese wontons for dessert are "to Die for" (had to say that, just cause hubby hates that phrase!!:rotfl2:)

1900 Park Fare. I made the reservation despite the less than stellar reviews. Shortly before our trip, I got very nervous about keeping my reservation and almost cancelled it to replace it with something else. I am so glad we didn't! The food was delicious! There was a huge variety, and everything tasted fresh and very tasty. We were surprised by the variety and the various offerings that weren't on your standard buffet. The character interaction was the best while on our trip. The combination of the food and the character interaction made it one of our favorite meals.

Tony's!

We had eaten lunch there previously, & it was only okay. We ate dinner there last September, & it was really good!! Everyone enjoyed their meal! My shrimp scampi was so fresh! And we all liked the Zucchini Fries for the appetizer.

I'll be making another ADR there for our next trip!

Two other "surprisingly really good" meals from our last trip were CRT (dinner) & Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch).

In the past, we've always gone to CRT for the princesses & for the experience of eating in the castle, but, this last time, we really liked the food as well!

We'd eaten dinner at LTT but never lunch, & our lunch was delicious! I had 1/2 of a roastbeef sandwich w/ a cup of butternut squash soup. The soup was wonderful!! And my dessert?! It was the Ooey-Gooey Toffee Cake, and OMG!! My favorite of the trip!

Mama Melrose! It got such bad reviews that we almost didn't try it, but boy were we glad we did. Good food, great service, and definitely a must-do for us now.

Ohana - I had heard about it for years and already had such high expectations. It turned out even better than I could have imagined!

Whispering Canyon - We didn't have many expectations because someone recommended it like an hour before we tried it, but it was so amazing we did it again the next trip!

Kona for us. Not one of the ones that show up on everyones must do or talked about much on the forums. Excellent food and great desserts and service. Does have consistantly good reviews and we agree. Atmosphere is a bit lacking but decent.

Tuskar House Dinner -

Went to WDW with my mom in 2008 with only two ADRs the whole trip... after our arrival day we knew we needed some and Tuskar House had switched to a TS a few months before. The food was great, our server was wonderful and helpful with what we should try. It was one of the best meals of our trip

I really loved Teppan Edo! The food was excellent, great service, even sitting with table mates was nice (normally not my cup of green tea:goodvibes). We met some really nice people from England and a monorail driver!!

I was hoping it would be good, ended up being great!!!

cool thread!!

Garden Grill- We went for the characters, but the food was the best we had in all of Disney. Hands down, my favorite restaurant.

Artist Point and Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch

Love, love, love Artist Point! I was just there for the first time a couple weeks ago and it is now my favorite WDW restaurant!

LTT is really good for lunch. I had only been for dinner when it had characters, I was very pleasantly surprised in November when we had lunch there. It is definitely high on our list now.

I think on our first trip it was either Rose & Crown or Tutto Italia. We didn't go in to R&C with any expectations, and it turned out to be one of our best meals! Tutto Italia had gotten a few bad reviews, but we had excellent service and the meal was fantastic!

However, on the second trip we booked R&C specifically because of how much we enjoyed it the first time, and it just didn't seem as good. Now we heard they got rid of the sweet potato pillow that came with the roast chicken dinner, so we probably won't be going back anytime soon.

On our second trip we did a lot of signature dining. My DH wasn't that excited about Flying Fish, since he's not into fish, but that was one of our best meals. Great service, and everything tasted wonderful. Narcoosee's was a pleasant surprise due to fireworks viewing. We had heard so much about going to Cali Grill for the fireworks, but we just had an overall better time (with a lot less people) at Narcoosee's.

I wonder, though, if places that are wonderful the first time will ever be as wonderful the second time. Sometimes, it's just that particular set of circumstances on that particular date and time that really work to make the meal perfect.

For us it was in San Angel Inn in Mexico. The reviews didn't seem so good but the food is great ... and the atmosphere is awesome.

San Angel Inn for us too. It gets so many bad reviews, but DH really wanted to eat here. I almost cancelled the ADR a couple of times and I am so glad I didn't. Great meal, great service, fun atmosphere.

I have to say mine is the Sci-Fi. my DH & DD are requesting again this time. I have to say I like it too, & our food was always good!! been there twice. Despite the terrible reviews I read, it seems to be a fav of our family.

We were just there 2/15 to 2/22. At about the half way mark, we had ADR's at Sanaa (which I was really looking forward to). We left DHS in the afternoon for a swim, well after that no one wanted to go to dinner.

We took the kids to the food court for their dinner and then husband and I went to Boatwrights. the kiddos went off to the arcade.

Well, I didn't have high expectations, but wanted a TS meal. We both really enjoyed our meals there. I had prime rib w/mac and cheese and hubby had beef tenderloin with mac n cheese....both were tender and delicious! We were so glad we went there! It was one of the best overall meals of the trip!

Garden Grill- We went for the characters, but the food was the best we had in all of Disney. Hands down, my favorite restaurant.

I 2nd Garden Grill. I want to one day be able to say that I have eaten at all of the Disney restaurants and this one is one I had avoided. Figured we would do it last trip so I could cross it off my list and we LOVED it! The food was surprisingly good!

Also make sure to hit 'Ohana every trip!
