Recommendation for a BBQ restaurant?

We love Southern BBQ and can't find it anywhere near home. We have enjoyed Bubblalou's Bodacious BBQ, but last time were disappointed. (We went to the one near Universal, if that matters.)

Recommendations? Our park time is at Universal, and we will probably be staying at Indian Ridge, though we don't mind a trek if it gives us a chance to explore something new.

Really, we want the kind of place with three or kinds of sauce on the table, you know? (I know there are plenty of places that do something else and include some pulled pork or brisket on the menu, but that would be in addition to a real BBQ place.)

I absolutely love the Texas Roadhouse on the 192. It's west of Disney on the right hand side just past Sherbeth Road.

Although it's not a proper barbeque pit as such, there is a great selection of steaks, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, wings etc

Massive portions and great selection of sides. Loads of different sauces.

Order carefully and make sure you're hungry - we were stuffed.

The best iv'e ever had is at Four Rivers...there are 2...one is in Winter Park and the other is in Winter Garden...it is AMAZING!!! Go early there will be a line but it is totally worth it:)

Thanks, both. IM Fearless, we tried Texas Roadhouse last trip and couldn't stay--my daughter developed an aversion to taxidermy (no, really, I'm serious!! :confused3:rotfl2:) and it had too many dead things on the wall. Luckily for us, this caused us to try the Chuy's Mexican place next door, which was really great--and no taxidermy!

Stacy, 4 Rivers is new to me, but the website looks promising, will plug that into the GPS I think. :goodvibes And hope the only dead things are the ones in BBQ sauce...

You will love it! It was a little whole in the wall until Triple D was there a few years ago on food network and now it's bigger with 2 locations...and thankfully no dead things on the walls:)

4 Rivers is expanding quickly - there are much more than 2 locations now. At least 4 in the Orlando area that I know of, plus they're expanding all over Florida. Unfortunately the ones you listed are still the closest to WDW. It's definitely the best BBQ in the area. It's counter-service though, so be prepared to wait in line if you go during a busy time. Best brisket I've ever had. And OMG try the desserts.

The Winter Garden location is your best bet from WDW.

DH is committed to Four Rivers, after the recommendations and some quality time reviewing their site. (I was going to say "reviewing the food porn"...lots of pics on Trip Advisor!) Thanks for the recommendation!

:thumbsup2

Besides the brisket, the sides are pretty awesome as well. My favorites are the baked cheese grits, smokehouse corn, sweet potato casserole, bread pudding, and the baked beans.

Reese's cupcake for dessert.
