Hi all,

We’ve sailed on DCL 8 times, but only on the classic ships, and for the last 6 of those cruises we’ve opted for the sideways inside rooms on deck five.

We love the layout of the rooms, and we love deck 5, due to there being fewer staterooms and no long corridor to navigate - somehow deck 5 seems more exclusive somehow! (I know I’m weird!!) I’m also strange in that I prefer the single bathroom, rather than the split bath.

Anyway... we are looking at sailing on the Disney Dream for the first time and we definitely want to try a magic porthole inside room. The added complication is that we are a family of four.

So... can anyone recommend an inside room that you think might appeal to us please?

Many thanks for any recommendations 👍

You'll need a deluxe inside stateroom for a family of four. I don't really have advice on which to choose, but I'll say that we enjoyed our inside stateroom on the Fantasy. (It was a standard, so its location wouldn't be relevant to your needs.) The magical porthole was great.

I'm a newbie so I need to set up my siggie, but we sailed on the Dream on Thanksgiving 2015. We booked 5 short weeks before that so took a standard interior room with the magic porthole. We ended up loving it! We were on deck 7 room 7677. It's at the back of the ship (aft?) right behind the stairwell/elevator bank and it's own private hallway just off that lobby that only the people for 8 rooms would be going down that hallway; we found it to be quiet and private. A short elevator ride to Deck 5 putting you out close to Oceaneer's Lab if you have kids or up to Deck 11 puts you out in Cabanas. As Mainsail Minnie says, you'll need the Deluxe Interior room, which there are 2 of in that same hallway I mention - 7675 and 7673.

I think it depends on the ages of your kids so where you'll be headed more. Our travel agent verified that first. My daughter was 7 at the time. But our next cruise she'll be 12 and maybe bringing a friend so I'd want to be closer to the middle bank of elevators bc that's where she'll go up to Edge Club on deck 13. The highest Deluxe Interior I'm going to be able to get is Deck 9. Rooms 9047, 9049, 9547, 9079, or 9579.

That’s really helpful FebruaryFilly, thank you so much for taking the time to give such a comprehensive reply.❤️

My boys will actually be 16 & 13 when we travel & last month they weren’t interested in the clubs because they couldn’t be together, age wise we will be in the same position for this cruise, so I expect they will skip them - but having quick access to the drinks station would be great - I assume they are near the entrance to cabanas , the same as the classic ships?

Many thanks again for both of your posts - gives me a great starting point, so I can review those type of rooms now👍

Yes, drink stations are Deck 11 at Cabanas entrances. My daughter is excited being close to the ice cream station. Works out for her being by that mid elevator bank on Deck 11...on her way to Deck 13 Edge. You bring up a good point though about the age cut off because if she brings the friend she wants to, she'll be 14 at the time of sailing (my daughter is a very young for her grade age and the friend is a very old for her age, grade ahead of her). Drat! 🤦‍♀️

🤦‍♀️ that’s a real shame - my boys probably would go to the clubs for a bit of time if they are together, but neither will go when they are in separate groups - which is fine by us as vacation time is family time for us anyway, I suspect your daughter and her friend would just find different things to do rather than go to the clubs? My boys definitely would want to be with their friends if I brought them on a trip with us 👍

We like any of the insides in this area on decks 8 or 9, especially the ones I’ve circled. The little hallways in the middle are very private and super quiet. If you can pull off getting 2 connecting ones I highly recommend it. Those are the only cabins we’ve ever cruised in on the Dream and Fantasy.

As a side note, the direction of your view of the magical porthole is the direction you would be looking if you were looking at the wall the head of the bed is on. In other words, the head of the bed in cabins 8091 and 8591 is at the aft side of the cabin, so your camera will be pointed in the aft so you can see the wake of the ship. If you were in the cabins across the hall, you’d have a view out the front of the ship. I hope this helps.

Thank you ever so much - that is super helpful! Really interesting information about the portholes - I just assumed they’d all be the same view, but trust Disney to go the extra mile! 👍

Your suggestions is where I was thinking for our next cruise (Fantasy not Dream but just about the same boat). I never thought about what the porthole is showing though! Thanks for pointing that out!
