Here's one of the more recent updated shutter lag charts I've seen for P&S cameras:

Honestly, I don't expect you'll have any problem matching your camera's speed, or exceeding it - it falls relatively midpack as it is (not that that's bad!). P&S cameras are getting mighty fast.
Remember a few things though - half-pressing to prefocus significantly reduces any shutter lag for all cameras...as opposed to mashing the shutter all the way. Also, some cameras can slow down significantly in low light, despite their speedy daylight times.
From all of the charts I've seen on shutter lag, Sony seems to be the fastest company overall, averaging much better across their line than all the other P&S manufacturers. They also make what appears to be one of the fastest focusing P&S cameras on the market now, in the TX1...every measurement and review I've seen mentions that it is lightning-quick to focus, and has no detectable shutter lag. Nikon has one model that is with the TX1 in 1-shot speed, but falls way off in taking 5 consecutive non-burst shots.
Honestly though, most modern P&S cameras from the major manufacturers are so much faster and better today than even a few years ago, and ever improving, that i wouldn't worry as much about shutter lag with most new cameras as I would about other image quality factors.
