My Grandmother used to make divinity every year. It was pink and it had green and red cherries and nuts in it. I have never been able to replicate this recipie with any success. What was the secret to my Grandmother's recipie? My Great Grandmother also made a beautiful divinity. I would really appreciate any help thank you!

Sorry i haven't heard of this before. Is it a cake or sweets/candy??

I have been told by the moderator I should post this on the Canadian board. My apologies. I had no idea that I had to be from the UK to post. I posted here because my Grandmother and Greatgrandmother were both from England and I was hoping someone from the UK board could help me with my question as it is a common recipie over there.

Hi
I'm sure you can post on here, as we have a lot from the usa and canada posting on here with questions for us!
you dont have to be from the uk to post on here

Of course you do not need to only be from the UK to post on the Board :)

I thought you had posted it on the UK Board by mistake as I had never heard of 'divinity' before and thought it was a Canadian thing.

Here is the quote from my PM.

Did you post this thread on the UK Community Board by accident? Should it be on the Canadian Community Board?

I can move it if you like, or if it should stay on the UK Board I apologise

As my last sentence say's if it should stay on the UK Board I apologise

So guys as this is a common recipe here in the UK - who is going to tell me all about it?? :)

I've never heard of it either, they do look like nougat though :)

Heres my recipe

INGREDIENTS
2 2/3 cups white sugar
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Cook sugar, corn syrup, and water in a 2-quart pot over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. (On humid days, use 1 tablespoon less water.) Cook, without stirring, to 260 degrees on candy thermometer (or hard ball stage).
Beat egg whites in 1-1/2-quart bowl until stiff peaks form. Continue to beat while pouring hot syrup in a thin stream into egg whites. Add vanilla; beat until mixture holds its shape and becomes slightly dull. (Mixture may become too stiff for electric mixer). Fold in nuts (if you choose).
Drop from buttered spoon onto waxed paper. Let stand at room temperature, turning candy over once, until outside of candy is firm--at least 12 hours. Store in airtight container.

I've heard of it but wasn't sure what it was. Sounds yummy though :)
