My husband went to the Dr. yesterday and has high LDL levels and low HDL levels. Overall Cholesterol was ok. My LDL levels are extremely high as well as overall levels (244).

Does anyone know a good site that has recipes to assist in lowering their cholesterol? I would love to hear about them. Thanks!!!

Low carb, moderate protein recipes will probably be your best bet.

Eat whole grains like rolled oats, oat bran, wheat bran, whole wheat, ground flax, brown rice... when you eat grains. The white stuff carries next to no nutrition and does such a number on your health!

Eat dark and colorful veggies (spinach, romaine lettuce, green/red/orange/yellow peppers...), and nutritionally packed fruits (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, cantelope...)

My husband lowered his lipids by following the Atkins plan.

dizneegirl, you always have the best advice :)

Low carb will help, you can try red yeast rice..I got some from my local whole foods market. Also..a friends aunt uses oleomed for cholesterol, and swears by it.

Always check with your doctor before taking any supplements.

I understand how you feel. My cholesterol is up too and one of my top goals is to reduce it. You might ask your doctor about taking garlic. My dr tends to try supplements where possible rather than going straight to mediations. Along with a good diet and exercise, she has me taking garlic twice a day.
