did anyone custom pick your menu for the reception
eric and i looked throught the menus that were sent to us that the boardwalk offers, right now we are going with the kentucky ave. buffet

it is a kind of expensive menu we think though

now we are thinking about wanting to see if we choose a few items if that would be cheaper, we are thinking
some type of bread
a steak or primerib
choice of house salad or cesar salad
mashed potates
(can we even do this and does this menu seem it needs something more??)

there will be 40 guests and held in st james room at boardwalk

HELP :confused3

Id be interested in this too, my reception is at the yacht and beach club and i am having the exact same problem!

Hi-

Buffet or seated?

Don't forget you have people that won't want prime rib or steak. You're should probably add a poultry item in there. Additionally, do you have an vegetarians? Vegans? People that don'teat red meat? You need to make accomodations for them, as well. You should also have a vegetable in there to offset the protein and starch. Remember you can cut costs on the seated menus by taking out the dessert service and just going with your wedding cake.

We attended a wedding- we've dubbed it the wedding from hell for other reasons- that only served steak. It came out supposedly medium. I have no problem with medium steaks. This thing was still mooing. It was disgusting. All of DH's family eats their steaks well, well done. You can imagine their disgust. It was a really uncomfortable situation becuase it was as though the bride and groom hadn't made accomodaitons for anyone- vegetarians, those who like their steaks cooked at varying degrees of red/pink, those who don't eat red meat, etc. (although I am sure this feeling was excerbated by a few other things).

all of our guest like and do eat meat
my main question was just wondering if disney would customise my menu like that or not
maybe aspargus for the vegetable??!!
i dont know just throwing around ideas and trying to see what other people have done and what can actually be done!! ;)

...did anyone custom pick your menu for the reception...

2BWEDDNDIS, I did ask for a custom menu for my custom VR in Oct. of 2004 (Great Movie Ride). I asked for it because I am not a food connoisseur. Had the menu been left up to me, hot dogs and beans would have been served. ;) (I wrote about it in my FTW Planning Session trip report.)

The only thing I can say is to ask. Ask your EM if you can custom-tailor your dinner menu. If you can’t completely tailor it, ask if you can substitute a few items. The worst that can happen is that Disney will say, “No,” and the best that can happen is that Disney will say, “Yes.”

Please let us know what you find out.

We are customizing our menu at the Boardwalk. We are actullay using some of the GF menus. Just talk to your EM.

I have substituted things added and subtracted at both the Yacht/Beach for the reception, and GF for my "maybe" Mad Hatter Tea and my "Definate" Rehearsal both at GF. In fact the tea will be completely custom.

I'm not a custom bride, but I would suggest adding more vegetables. Mashed potatoes by itself seems a little starchy.

We were able to work with our catering manager to customize our menu, although ours was at DLR. We picked the menu closest to our liking and then decided that we wanted all meals to have garlic mashed potatoes rather than plain or cheese. We also worked with our SM to have a crown service type menu, where our guests informed us in advance what their preference was (beef, chicken, fish, veg) and we went on that count. So depending on the meal chosen each plate cost a different amount. We had to press this issue but were able to get it. So don't be afraid to ask about altering your menu. Most will work with you to tweak your meal to your liking.

you can customize your menu by removing items, adding items, etc. we did.

28 days to go! :bride: twojo21

You can customize. I am also having my wedding at the gazebo and then the reception at the Yacht club and just got off the phone with my wedding planner because I love the goat cheese ravioli at the california grill. she said anything I wanted. She even said that for cakes, if I have a picture I find in a magazine or on the net - they can replicate it! They are totally willing to work with you as it is your day!!
