We decided to have our reception at the Attic in the Boardwalk hotel. I had never heard of this location until I starting doing some research about disney weddings. When I saw the location we knew we wanted to have it there. It is very laid back and fun. It is directly over Jelly Rolls and it has a large balcony that overlooks the water.
Has anyone had a reception at this location or has heard of anyone that has?

I'd love to see some pictures of this place because the ones I have seen made it look stuffy and like Grandma's house. Not fun and hip :confused3

One of the girls here ended up getting married in the Attic because it rained...you might try sending her a PM to see what pics she might have. She loved the location! Her name is LIGrumpyGirl.

I have lots of pics I can dig up. It was a venue I had looked at for one of my families doing a magical gathering. I am clueless on posting pics though, so I will either need a lesson or PM me your email and I can send some.

It is very airy and a great view.

Hello....yes I had my wedding and cake cutting at the Attic. It was great. I couldn't pay to have my intimate there and I loved it.

Here are my pictures....

Go to http://www.collages.net/disneyweddings.

Fill in the following name and password information:
User Name: McGovern / Dieso Wedding
Password: 1971

Check it out...I am no sure how good the pics are. I will look through my own pics also.

It was so nice to have the balcony AND the inside. It is not huge....how many people are u having? And what kind of reception?

Let me know if you have any more questions!

I just went on my site visit last week and I checked out The Attic for a possible DP. It is such a beautiful room, I absolutely LOVE it!

However, we are not having a DP there b/c it is rather small, and if you are having a lot of guests, it may feel like they are on top of each other. I think it would be better suited for a cocktail or dessert party b/c there are not many tables. Many of your guests may have to sit on couches/ chairs without a table. Also, there is no direct way to get to The Attic. You have to go through BWV and walk forever! They need to have an elevator or stairs over Jellyrolls so it is more accessible. JMHO :)

You definitely need to check it out for yourself. Good luck!

Love the Attic! We had a little over 40 people at our reception and that worked beautifully. It was our 25th anniversary so we wanted it to have a relaxed, "homey" feel and the Attic fit the bill perfectly. We had tables set up in the balcony area, so there were lots of seating choices for guests, and the view is wonderful. Best of luck!

How many would you say it is good for? From the website we loved it, but Living Seas will win out. So I was thinking of maybe the welcome party there. I thought maybe I'd ask about it for a dessert party. Do you know, would which would be cheaper -- the Attic or Illuminations DP? Do the minimums apply for a DP or are those only for a reception there? I was confused when I looked at the website. And, if you have a DP at the Attic, can you see any fireworks? Anyway, I am thinking we may have about 60 (many of them are kids), but I don't know yet. That's only the preliminary list and who knows how many will make the trip.

Thanks.

I was thinking of a DP there too. However, the minimum food and beverage cost is $2500 and the max # of people you can have is 50.

Thanks. I just edited my post to add that question. Why don't they say the max. number is 50 on the site? Well, that settles it all around then!

Thanks for posting about your reception, Mary! The Attic is the top choice for our reception for our tenth anniversary vow renewal! :goodvibes We have almost two years left to wait but it sounds perfect. You don't by chance have any pics of the Attic (inside) while your reception was in progress? What kind of food did you serve? :teeth:

I loved the attic too and talked to my SM about it...she told me it was only good for 50 people and that would be crowded...she said about 35 was more ideal. We had 99...sooooooo. I had thought about using it as a kid venue (my reception was ADH), but given the above mentioned minimum of $2000 (at the time) I nixed it. It's a very cute location with a GREAT view.

We had a 9:00 Epcot ceremony and then we took a Friendship Boat to the Attic. We went with the " Vermont Ave. Brunch ", a buffet offered by the Boardwalk catering. Beverages were available at 10:30 (when we arrived) and brunch was served from 11:00 until 12:30. It was wonderful...tons of delicious food. There was
- an assortment of juices, teas and coffee

-mimosas, sparkling cider, bloody marys, sodas and water

- a pastry selection along with tropical fruits and berries and berry infused yogurt dip

-market inspired veggies

- a cook to order omelet station

-bacon, sausage, layered potatoes

-seared salmon with maple glaze

-grilled chicken breast

-boneless prime rib, carved to order

- a variety of whole cake, assorted mousse glasses and mini pastries

Really great experience with the staff, too.

Those are the only pics I have right now... I 'll check to see what my son has on his computer.
Best of luck and congratulations on your upcoming VR!

We are going to have about 50 people at the reception at the attic. I convinced them to add a couple of tables. Currently they only have table and chairs for 38 people. I am a little worried that people are going to have to eat their meals on the couch on their lap. The wedding is at 12:00 at the wedding pavilion and then reception from 1-5 at the attic. In the evening we are going to have a desert party on the UK lower terrace. We are exited about the day but we are still trying to work out transportation for everyone as well as the seating issue at the attic. Our SM said that we could fit 60 at the attic but we are trying to figire out where everyone is going to fit.

Thank you so much, Mary!! I want to have the brunch too!! It sounds great. :sunny: Did you only hire the bus for a couple of hours? Didn't they make you pay for a five hour minimum? Did it seem like a long walk after the Friendship Boat ride which incidentally sounds like a lovely way to travel? :goodvibes

Hey Lisa4l! Mary said she had them put up some tables outside too! What time of year is your event?

Are your photos still on this site? I tried your password but it keeps saying incorrect. I am about to book the attic for our reception and very interested to see your photos. Thanks so much

I too am looking for the photos, and they are asking for a credit card to renew them on line for another 12 mos. I am dying to see this place now that everyone has said such good things about it.

I have a few pictures that Disney sent me when I was deciding.
I ended up having the parlor at the AA in Epcot as I wanted my night to last a little longer than 10pm.
