Hi
leaving in a month
since covid is still here we see / hear quite a lot of cases I wonder for this who cruised lately
how is quarantine onboard did you see lots of people being out in quarantine ?
i know we are tested upon boarding but since that virus is quite crazy you could be asymptomatic and develop it a day or two later

I know if you have the bad luck of develoooing it they quarantine you in special dedicated cabin
but since your loosing on most of the fun onboard
shall you could have the bad luck of developing it while onboard do dcl offer some kind of compensation if your stuck in your cabin ?
cause let’s say I test before leaving ( here in Canada we have to in order to take a flight )
then test again the day after after boarding I would have done everything alright

but would hate on a 4 day cruise let’s say to develop symptom on day 2 of a 4 day cruise and miss on the rest of the cruise

it got me to wonder about if there is lots of people being quarantined t
in the last weeks and if dcl does give you something since they quarantined you …

I cruised a few weeks ago, and never saw or heard about anyone in quarantine. They don't advertise it, and Covid rates are way down, so it's very unlikely to be a common occurrence. If you test negative on embarkation day, you are unlikely to become symptomatic before the end of a 4-night cruise.

If you are put into quarantine onboard, you will receive financial compensation for the quarantined days of your cruise.

I was on the March 26 Fantasy cruise. I never saw or heard anything about any passengers being quarantined. I think someone posted months ago that they had to be quarantined. I think they got some money back for the days they were quarantined.

I am sure there are COVID cases on every sailing. Especially the sailings of 4 days or more but you won't hear about them from Disney.

That's good news (and quite reassuring) if cases are low in the USA. In Canada cases are currently skyrocketing, we are getting hit pretty hard with the six wave.

One thing that helps (and some people hate) is that Disney makes you test the day of embarkation prior to boarding. Although not perfect, this is as close to full proof as you can get. Other cruise lines allow you to test 2 - 3 days before leaving more room for positive cases to slip through the cracks

Just remember that COVID is not the only reason you could be quarantined to your stateroom. GI issues are quarantined for at least 24 hours in case it is norovirus.

Historically, DCL has not refunded for other quarantines, right? Travel insurance will usually reimburse, though, and DCL will give documentation needed to file such a claim. The fact that DCL has been offering partial reimbursements for Covid quarantines is outside their normal policy.

Definitely not. My daughter got very sick one day on our first cruise. I think she threw up 8 times. Poor thing. She had to stay in the stateroom until the next morning when she felt fine again. We got nothing except a package of crackers lol

On, the 3/30 Wonder sailing (from San Diego), it looked as if all of Deck 2 was reserved. Twice during the cruise I went to Deck 2 at the fore/mid/aft stairs, and the doors to the hallways were closed with signs saying not to enter. I don't know for sure that it was for quarantine, but it seems likely (especially since during this cruise, we heard that at least 12 cast members were in quarantine as of the 3rd night, when they had to cancel the Frozen performance).

Maybe you are back east in ON and Quebec but no 6th wave has been declared here in BC. Cases have been around the same daily number for weeks now.

No. Just saying that there are other reasons you could be quarantined. My dad got sick in Cartagena on the WBPC a few years ago (pre-COVID) and even though even medical was 99% sure it was a combo of the rich dinner at Palo the night before and the heat in Cartagena they still quarantined him. They did have an empty veranda room they were able to him to for the transit - but that was lucky circumstances as they are usually not empty. He got sprung in time for the last lock.

Starting today I believe BC is going to once a week. Numbers don't mean much since they are only testing a select few who can get a PCR test anyway
Very true. Here they just say nothing matters anymore. They shut down the drive thru testing sites. You can grab free rapid tests but you don't have to tell anyone if it's positive and they're like "you can go to work." I'm not sure what's going on anymore lol

Quebec... 😭 And indeed, it hasn't reach B.C. yet.
Exactly I am from Quebec also
Got to say the anticipation of the cruise usually I love ( all the preparation and all

But with this thing still lurking around it’s making me so nervous even if I try not to be

I know you can be quarantined for other reasons
Been on quite a few dcl

I don’t know why this time around I am most scared of covid being the one who would ( quarantined us

It’s only a 4 day cruise so hopefully all will be fine

All Disney ships but the Dream currently have covid cases on board. https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/cruise-ship-color-status.html
