Recent visits to Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue?

I can't find any recent info on this. Are there still characters? How is the food? We'll have a group of kids age 7, 5, 2, and 2.

There are no characters per se (Woody/Jesse), but there is a stage performance that involves singing and attempts at audience participation. I like the food here and would recommend it.

I can go along with this. We were there 2 weeks ago and the food was excellent and they did have a 45 minute wait if there were no reservations on that particular night.

And it was delicious! I'm a southern girl and love to find good BBQ! I thought this was pretty good stuff!

There were no characters, but the show was fine. It's just a couple of folks singing (forgot several words...big no no!) and pestering the audience/diners. My daughter loved it, as she was called onstage to help.

If you go, be sure to get a dessert for the table. We had the fresh strawberry rhubarb cobbler and it was more than plenty to feed 5 adults and 1 child!

We were there a few weeks back and really enjoyed it. There was a bit of a wait to be seated, but nothing awful. The food was good - we ordered the cookie bake dessert for the table and it was really good.

I don't know if it's still an issue, but there was a slight bee problem when we were there. (They were present and landing on food, tables, etc.) If you're scared or allergic to bees you might want to see if they're still around.

Both, it's a set price, plus extra for dessert and beverages.

Does anyone know when they stop doing the BBQ? I think they stop towards the end of the year but I would love to do this again when we are there in November!??!

My DH and I love good barbecue but the kids are a little less enthusiastic. Does anyone know if there would be a problem if DS grabbed a turkey leg and DD grabbed some chicken strips and met up with us at the BBQ? We have done this before at Cafe Orleans. It would be so much simpler without picky eaters!

I am pretty sure they would not allow this. It is considered a character meal with a fixed price for each person at your table whether they eat or not.

I think the problem is that you would be going to a buffet, and you are paying for the seat, not the plate like in a classic restaurant.

I see the beverages are listed with a charge. Are beverages included with the kid's meals? It says that the kids receive a "souviner sipper".

I just recently ate here and it was pretty okay. My husband is the BBQ fan between us, so he really loved it. While I'm not a big BBQ person, the ribs were yummy and the chicken was pretty good. I think I'd rather go for dinner instead of lunch, because of the added menu items.

OMG, you have got to try the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bake!!! We have eaten at the Celebration Roundup BBQ a few times, but never ordered a dessert before. On the last visit, we order one. It was huge and was so good. We thought is would be small and, after eating that huge dinner, would be a nice ending to a great meal. When it got to our table, we just couldn't believe how big it was. It was warm and it came with a warmed hot fudge. Better than the BJ's version.

I'm glad the "Cowboy Cone Cakes" are still available. They were a hit with my group when we went for the Celebration Roundup

Does anyone know what the ages are for the children's prices here. I can't seem to find it anywhere. I am thinking that it may be 9 and under - like the hopper passes but don't know. Any info would be great as we really would like to try it out but would need to budget for it as it is a bit pricey. Thanks!!

Yes, children's prices for dining establishments in the parks and in the Disney hotels follow the same rules as for tickets. Ages 3-9 are children, 10 and up are adults. Children under 3 eat free at the barbecue, character meals, and I think WoC dining.
