Just a mini trip report or more my thoughts...
We had a 4 day pass.... we were there Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We didn't go all day Tuesday and Saturday and I regret that. It was poor planning on my part. I felt they were a waste of days. We spent half of those days driving down and driving home.
I have to say I was very disappointed in Trader Sams. I was hoping to have a fun dinner there with my teen kids. I had heard reports on how fun the bar is and how they do different things for different drinks. I was looking very forward to this dinner.... We walked in and no one greeted up or said a word. There also is about 8-10 tables for sitting and eating. Everything was taken and we thought we would wait. We got a menu and there wasn't much to choose from to eat. In this time nothing special particularly happened. We ended up leaving and I was disappointed. We ended up at the ESPN zone with was pricey but good. I was still wanting to check out Trader Sams based on all the things people had said... I went a few days later, this time at 9-10 pm with my sister in law. People were ordering drinks and nothing special happened... We looked over the menu and each got a different drink in a souvenir cup. They came out, and the lady said something for my sister in law drink and they squirted her with water and that was it. I guess I was expecting this bar to be hopping and lots of activity going on. It just wasn't that all. I ended up spending 20 dollars on a drink I didn't like and was disappointed. I really wish I was more impressed. Maybe I hyped it up to much in my head but it just wasn't the fun place I thought it would be.
I wish I would have taken the time to use my photopass+ to its fullest. It just seems that your on the go go go and don't stop to take a moment to capture the memories. I hope to purchase it again and be better about using it.
This is the first time I didn't sit and watch the parade. I didn't think it that big of deal when I was there, but after I left, I felt like I was missing something. I now realize how much the shows and parades add to the magic of Disney. It is something I will be sure not to miss again.
I wish I would have started walking before we left. I cant say this enough. I am getting older, and now feeling it. I am also very much overweight. In the past I haven't had a problem. This time, I was miserable. There is something about the music or the feel of Disney that makes you able to do more then you normally would. My husband swears I hear the music and no one can keep up with me. I wore broke in shoes , yet got blisters. I did swap shoes everyother day to help relieve the problem. I think the best thing I did was not drain them. I just covered with bandaid and let my body take care of the rest. It seemed to work. My body was just not used to that much walking and my leg muscles paid for it. I did not take aspirin or Motrin for the pain. I didn't want to mask it and feel I could do even more. I was already pushing it to much.
On a positive note... We had a great time. We did make a lot of memories.
We had a really good meal at Tortilla Jo's. We also enjoyed great service while there.
The crowds over the 4 days we were there were not any more then any other summer I have been. I had seen on here that people were stating it was more crowded then ever. I didn't find this to be true. The late afternoons were heavy.
We were there on Wed which was a grad night. I couldn't even tell it was one. I think its because a lot of schools are out by then. I know my teens were out at the end of May.
We had a medical pass for my niece for a few days while there. I like how the system worked and I didn't feel we were cutting line or taking advantage of it. We got the pass and waited the same amount of time as everyone in line. The only difference was she wasn't in line and was able to take care of her needs easily. We then got in the fastpass line when it was our time. It made it appear that we had a regular fastpass. I like this much better then waiting at the exit and getting glares from the families standing in line. We also only used it for lines that were longer than 45 min. Otherwise we stood in line
My family eats meals early it seems compared to most. We usually do lunch about 11-12 and dinner around 5. We found we did not wait at all to get meals and the restaurants were not crowded.
I listened to my daughter and bought a camelback. I always used a water bottle but then never got ice in there because the opening is small. My daughter got me to buy a camelback and it was great. I don't like the straw ones but found one that was just a twist and pour.
I can not stress enough how wonderful it is that Disney gives out free cups of ice water. I took advantage of it often. I would get several cups and fill up my camelback. They have them ready for you when you walk up to the window and give them away with a smile. I did not pay for any drinks in Disneyland and drank water the entire time. It was refreshing and my kids also realized it was also and saw we were saving money.
For the first time we took a day off in the middle of the trip to break it up. It was a nice get away. We went to Huntington beach and relaxed. It was nice break for our mind and bodies.
all in all I love Disney and I cant wait to go back
