Recent reviews on Jiko?

I see a lot of comments on the board that Jiko is a favorite restaurant for many DIS'ers, but there isn't much detail. Has anyone gone recently who can give me a review? That's the restaurant I've chosen for my birthday dinner so I want it to be very special.

I was just at CG a few months ago and was able to see the fireworks, so it will be hard to top that, but I'm hoping for some encouraging words. Thanks!

well, not recent, but we have always found jiko to be excellent and have never had a "bad" meal there. we celebrated my husband's b-day there last year and he received a b-day card signed by most of the CM w/greetings in their native language. very neat!

We had dinner at Jiko on July 1st and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very nice, the food was exellent and the service was very efficient. The wine list is nice (mostly South African wines). Of course, there were plenty of families with children there (including ours) but it was nevertheless a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. I've never been to Boma, but I suspect more families may go there because it's a buffet?

We were also there on July 1st. The food was good, and I suppose that the service was "efficient". The IRS is also efficient, and about as friendly and personable as our our server.

The service was much different at the Yachtsman on the 28th. The server was competent, and did not act like he had just scraped us off the bottom of his shoe. Food was comperable and good - I had the filet at both places.

Boma is very different. More family oriented. Louder. Less expensive. Better bang for the buck.

I may get flamed for this, but I would much prefer the CG or the Yachtsman, just on account of the "efficient" service we received.
