Recent experiences with Spirit - good? bad?

Spirit has the best price for our March 5 - 14 trip by over $100 per ticket even after considering all of the fees. The next best is AirTran. I vaguely recall hearing some pretty negative comments about Spirit a while back so I was wondering if anyone can share any recent experiences with them. Thanks.

We have flown both before, Spirit was just fine. I prefer Airtran but given the cost diff I would fly spirit again.

Bumpijg...anyoone flown Spirit out of AC lately? they have some great $28 seats for their sale...would cost us $461 roundtrip for 5 of us in January!

I have flown Spirit to Puerto Rico from Michigan. It was worth the cheap price and I would do it again if I needed too.
