Recent Cruisers, Can I check AA luggage at port?

We do not have Disney transfers, we're using Yourride. We would like to check our luggage at the port so that we can make a stop at DD before catching our flight later in the day. Is American Airlines still at the port to take luggage after a cruise?

Do you have to be using Disney transfers to check your bags at the port? Can you check your bags at the port if you are using a town car service?

(ie. is is convenient and relatively quick)

we checked our AA luggage at the port, then took the Disney bus to the airport. It is so much easier because we were at the airport at 9:15 AM and our flight wasn't until 12:45 and we didn't have to haul our luggage out of the bus and find the American gate,etc. They gave us all of our boarding passes. No problem. The luggage flew all the way with us!
