Received my new Magic Band 2.0 .... :(

Just so everyone is aware the new MagicKeeper keychains to hold the icon of the magicband are now available at WDW.

We just left yesterday and didn't see them anywhere. We asked in several of the major park shops and were told maybe another week or so. Wish we could have found them before we left.

does anybody know if the old mickey mouse watch that I spent 20 bucks on so that it will slide onto my magicband will still fit on the new band?

Yes, it will. DH has a watch slide on his 2.0 that was made for the original.

I have to say that I wasn't thrilled at the photos of 2.0. They look huge. The original bands felt uncomfortable and heavy on my wrist, so I figured the new ones would be worse. That wasn't the case at all. In fact, we regularly forgot we were even wearing the 2.0 bands. DH often fell asleep with his on at night. I would only notice mine still on if I caught sight of it when getting ready for bed, or even laying down. These new ones are much li

I would still like to have a key chain, to hook to my purse strap, just because they are cute. I hope they will come out with more designs, especially ride specific ones.

Weird. Several bloggers had photos and videos of them.

I've read that they are available in the park -- don't see it on the shopping app or Disney store online.

Any idea if they are available at Disney Springs? I figured they would show up on the Shop Disney app as a "in store only" item, but that they would show which stores have them. I was hoping to avoid a wild goose chase and just make a quick stop to pick them up. MK is the most inconvenient place to pick up items if you are just stopping for a quick purchase, so I was hoping they might be at other locations also.

Either they are in Disney Springs or they just put out. We only did MK on Friday, but hit the other three parks on Thursday and never did find them.

Oh well, by the time we go back in May, maybe they will have a better selection of accessories.

I am glad I am not alone. We received our bands in the mail last week. The last time we went to Disney was 4 years ago and the Magic Bands were just a pilot, so this is our first time using them. I hated it! It was so large and bulky. The strap was so long - do people cut it? I just hated it. I refuse to spend the $10 for a keychain for it.

Why would you put it on a keychain? Wouldn't that be a pain to use at the gates? Just curious why anyone would want to have a dangling magic band, just not practical.

We just got our 2.0 bands in the mail and while I prefer the old style these will be fine for me. DH is so excited about all the possibilities and switching pucks into other color bands. He also wants to swallow one and see if it will work to scan his belly :sad2:
The only potential problem is DD5's wrist is so small the new band seems to stick out more, but just playing with it around the house doesn't bother her. DD wants a purple puck in a pink band so overall I guess she likes it.

I like it on my wrist myself, but I could see it if you put it on one of those clips with the retractable line. We use RFID cards at work and a lot of people keep their badge on those.

I don't like wearing anything on my wrists, so I plan on removing the puck and putting it on a key chain. I will then attach the key chain to my small cross body bag.

I don't like the new ones at all they are too big for my wrist. They are not as confortable as the 1 version.

I find using a wristband to be impractical, uncomfortable, and awkward. Having it in a keychain (eta:actually I want the caribiner) perhaps hanging from my ravenclaw lanyard would be more like using the card. Ah the good old days. (Though it's more like using the card at Disneyland where it's just scanned. I think wdw turnstiles acted like subway stiles where you actually inserted the cards? Or perhaps I'm misremembering)

Correct. They also had a barcode scanner on them which the CM could use if it failed to read the magnetic stripe.

I'm liking the carabiner idea. I almost always have a car with me, so I'll just put it on the keychain...either that or on a belt loop.

I don't have one yet, but I am 100% sure my wife will love it. She never put her 1.0 on her wrist; always wore it looped somewhere else on her body (usually on her lanyard). So that option will be a big plus to her.

You can still use a card if you want.

Hmm, yeah okay, that would work.
