Our March 7th our SYR-MCO direct flight was delayed just under 4 hours due a battery being unavailable????? This was not an ideal situation to begin with as it was entirely avoidable ( no weather delays that day) and they continually extended the delay instead of telling the passengers right from the start the replacement battery was on route from JFK. They did let us off the flight after passengers complained but SYR is a small airport and there was only one KIOSK to buy food at. Everyone was not even offered water, even though they had to hook up an external air conditioning unit. My DH and I have received a email voucher for $50. Is there anyway of having that converted to a credit card refund? I filled out my customer survey but am not keeping my fingers crossed they will answer my complaints. The flight crew was the worst one I have ever travelled with and were particularly unhelpful to the passengers. Our return flight was delayed 1/2 hr due to MCO luggage delivery problems and then after the satellite TV repeatedly didn't work, they gave us free movies after 90 minutes! Not one of my best flight with JB. Anyone else experience any non weather related Jet Blue glitches lately?:confused3

Honestly? A $50 voucher for a 4 hour mechanical delay is extremely generous. Most legacy carriers would not offer anything, or only offer something (such as miles) to their top tier elite travellers.

The $50 voucher can only be used if you book a flight within a year. It is not like a $50 credit to your credit card. Very few people are able to use the vouchers unless you are frequent fliers. A lot of people on the flight were verbalizing they would only fly JetBlue again as a last resort! A $50 voucher is inadequate compensation for the loss of four hours of your vacation!

Again, the voucher is very generous in the airline industry. I strongly doubt that you would receive a refund on your credit card.

I'm sorry that you are disappointed with the compensation offered, but it was generous and not necessarily warranted. I have been delayed more than 4 hours many many times in all my years of travel. Things happen.

I got a 50 dollar credit when they moved my flight (3 mths away) from afternoon to morning so they must had those things out like crazy. I wouldnt be happy if I was in your situation with a 50 credit.
You can join jet blues flyer program and call them up and have them add your flight plus your credit and you might get a free flight out of it

$50. is the correct amt. for the delay that you had.
It's not much for 4 hours I agree, but on the other hand, I don't believe any other airlines would give you anything.
Go to the JB website and you can read their biil of rights.

Unfortunately, I am a member of the True Blue Program and even joining that does not give you any extra perks. Your points still expire after a year. The only way you can accumulate them is apply for a Jet Blue credit card and I am not comfortable with doing that! If you read the bill of rights:

Customers whose flight is delayed for 2-3:59 hours after scheduled departure time due to a Controllable Irregularity are entitled to a $50 Voucher good for future travel on JetBlue.
Customers whose flight is delayed for 4-5:59 hours after scheduled departure time due to a Controllable Irregularity are entitled to a Voucher good for future travel on JetBlue in the amount paid by the customer for the oneway trip.

We were technically delayed over 4 hours as we were still on the ground at the four hour window. I have emailed Jet Blue again as the voucher is not appearing in my True Blue Account. Does anyone know, is that how they register the voucher?

My mother was issued a $100 voucher from USAirways for her luggage being delayed almost 24 hrs after the plane arrived. It was pre-cruise and we were all very stressed out that she would have to quickly buy clothes, bathing suits, formal wear, etc. :headache:
This was the 2nd time our luggage didn't arrive on our plane so we were pretty disgusted. It wouldn't be so bad if our vacation plans were to stay in the arrival city and the airline could just deliver your bags a few hours later but when you're taking a cruise, you really need your luggage.
I don't know how JB handles vouchers but w/USAirways you have to reserve by phone then go to your local airport w/voucher and pay there. I've done it but it's a PITA.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Things happen and just go with the flow. Look at it this way, you are driving on the interstate and your battery fails, now you are stuck and have a delay. JB has some wonderful policies that you don't find at other airlines, like no bumping off the flight and giving you $50. I'm not trying to be mean, but I think you are expecting too much.

JetBlue will email you with the voucher number. The voucher does not show up in uour TB account.
Like I said before, $40. is not much for your time spent, but on another airline you probably would have received zip.

I think you should be happy with your voucher. I have been delayed as much as 12 hours (on continental) and received no compensation. Last October I sat in Orlando for over 5 hours, and received no compensation (United).

Four hours is not a huge delay, and I can't see how it would have impacted your vacation much. You most likely would not have been able to get on a different flight even if you knew ahead of time that the delay was going to be 4 hours. Are you mad because you were not told that the delay would last 4 hours? Jet Blue probably did not want to make that statement, and then have a bunch of mad passengers if the part was late. Better for them to leave the delay indefinate, and not risk an uprising if the stated time came and went and the flight still did not leave.

I think a $50 voucher is quite generous for a less than 4 hour delay.

You do not have a flight credit, you have a voucher, and yes there IS a difference. You cannot get monetary credit for either.

What you got - UNASKED - from JetBlue is in exact accordance with their Customer Bill of Rights, which was developed voluntarily in response to the February 2007 "fiasco". In comparison, what you would have likely gotten from any other airline is bupkes.

Well, we sat for 18 hours in Rochester while Delta waited for a static wick to be delievered from Atlanta. In the process of flying it to Rochester, the plane it, and the mechanic were on had a problem and had to land in Syracuse. Then by the time the plane with the part and mechanic made it to Rochester, our flight crew had timed out and we were stuck overnight. Our compensation was meal vouchers and a hotel room overnight. We were not offered any monetary or travel compensation vouchers. Delta was very considerate and did all they could. I think you should feel very lucky JetBlue offered you anything. Honestly a four hour delay is truly nothing.

Sorry I think $50 credit for future flight is generous as well. Four hours is minimal unless it made you miss a connection. I would have been irritated, yes, that they didn't be more specific as to the problem; no one wants to wait around like that, but I've been delayed longer and received less (like, nothing).
