I received a card in the mail today saying that if I joined the DVC w/ Saratago Springs, I would receive a "complimentary Disney vacation".

Of course, it doesn't give any details about the "complimentary Disney vacation", because I'm sure they want you to call them for information.

Does anyone know what this entails?

Thanks! :p

Due to the current construction schedule, DVC points sold now to new members at Saratoga Springs are not available for use until mid-2005. To compensate for this, DVC is offering a choice of two incentives:

1. Take a flat discount of $10 off per point, bringing purchase price to $85 per point, or

2. They will extend a one-time grant of Developer's Points equal to the number that you purchase. For example, if you buy a contract for 150 points, they give you 150 Developer's Points to use between now and 9/30/05 at any resort EXCEPT Saratoga Springs.

The Developer's Points are nice in that you don't pay any dues on the points. But the cash discount is also attractive if $95 per point seems like a lot to pay.

If you buy into SSR under this arrangement, and finance through DVC, there are no payments, no interest, and no dues until mid-2005.

We just bought into the Club on Friday and according to our 'guide', the deal is being offered for two reasons....1) because phase 2 of SSR is not complete yet and phase 1 is sold out and if you buy now, you can't use your points until next Spring and 2) because of the horrible hurricane season they have been experiencing. They're sales are really down and they are trying to attract buyers. The offers are really good...especially the $10 per point.

We looked at buying in January of this year when phase 1 was being sold and points were selling for $85 then, so with this offer, we were able to get them at $85 again, whereas without the offer, they would have been selling for $95 each.

I also just had to say that I love your signature with the saying from the monorail....I always come home from Disney with that saying stuck in my head and drive my hubby crazy for weeks on end saying it!!!!

Little bit of embellishment on that one. The $10 off per point discount has been around since before Hurricane Charley was even a rainstorm. In fact, they've been offering different variations on the same theme ($10 off in exchange for forfeiting the first year's points) for many, many years.

Interesting to note that the salespeople are actually volunteering comments regarding lackluster sales. Hmmmm....
