Received a call from DVC Guide

We received a call from our DVC Guide last evening. We were told that BCV is now 85% sold and a sell out is expected within the next 6 to 8 weeks.

My guide said it was selling fast when I spoke to him this week about my add on. I did not ask for a status update. I did tell him I had heard those rumors and I figured I had better beat the next price increase. He just laughed.

i wonder if they are artificially causing BCV to sell out faster than it was originally selling?
it's so easy... just start a rumor that BCV is selling out quickly, and everyone will call their guide and add-on right away.

my guide's voicemail message also said that DVC Sales were experiencing extremely high call volume because of the "BCV Sell-out".

I also forgot to mention, that I was told that there could be another per point price increase by this summer.

I noticed when I called my guide a couple weeks back, her voice mail message also indicated the upcoming sell out. When I spoke to her, she also gently reminded me (just in case we were interested).

I will say this. My guide was off for several days last week. His voice mail said he would get back to you in order of your call and he was back at least a day and a half before he called. He is pretty good about calling back so I assume he had several calls. Plus he has NEVER pressured me about doing add ons. I have ALWAYS been the one to contact him. For that reason I do believe him when he says it was selling fast.

My other thought is the statement that has been made about them closing the model units at BWV. Weren't these remodeled into BCV? So where would they go to sell BCV? I don't think they are going to make their potential customers hike from the sales center to BC and there does not appear to be a sales center at BC. So why close the sales center if you have lots to sell?

I would take your guide's claims with a big lump of salt. Even if there is only 15% left (which may be a teeny bit of an exaggeration), it would take quite a rush to sell it all in 6-8 weeks. From July 2002 to February 2003 it went from 40% to 70%, less than 5% per month.

The advice to buy soon is still good advice, even if it is backed up by dubious claims. Just don't let yourself be rushed into anything.

Maybe with the upcoming busy season they expect the pace of sales to pick up?

In defense of the guides, it WILL sell out sometime this year, and they really can't be sure when. I would sure hate to be the guide who did NOT warn a client about the possibility of a sellout (overall or of a particular use year), and then have to tell that client that it happened while they were taking their sweet time making up their mind. So it's a combination of good customer relations and (of course) a sales pitch.

I called our guide yesterday and asked about all this, since we haven't made a deposit yet.
I was told -
He has only heard rumors from DVC members about a price increase, nothing from work.
December use year only has about 1300 points left.
BCV excepted to sell out in about a month??? (I think this is a huge over estimation, but he is trying to sell! Said they have been quite busy just recently.)

It looks like another DVC resort will sell out before VB! Even with the $15 MB on purchases of as few as 50 points, it seems that they are just treading water. My guide said there were more VB points left for my use year than BCV points.

That's funny, because it was my guide who told me he expects a price increase coming up. Maybe that's just what he is expecting to happen. Still, we are getting ready for another add on anyhow, as soon as our mortgage refi is done we will be getting some MB points.
