I did it! The newsletters are all out and sent! The turn-around time from start to finish was about 2 days, so not that bad. I'll post a picture of it if I can. Mine was only 1 page front and back so not nearly as much information as some of the others I've seen but I knew I was behind on getting it done and had not planned on doing one at all until people starting calling the wrong phone number to make hotel reservations and called my family asking why they were quoted $500 at Grand Floridian. Anyway, problem should be solved.
We also played the fun game called 'Cutzies' to get our numbers down this weekend. Our wedding weekend looks like this:
Thursday, May 5th- Surprise tickets to Epcot for bridesmaids; bachelorette party 'around the world' that night.
Friday, May 6th- Bridesmaid luncheon at Grand Floridian cafe, Rehearsal at the church at 4pm, Rehearsal dinner at 6pm at Il Mulino at the swan and dolphin. Boat ride over to Epcot for Dessert Welcome Party in Terrace de Fleurs, France for 80 guests until 9:30pm.
Saturday, May 7th- Wedding at 1pm. Pictures til cocktail hour begins at 6pm. 130 guests
Sunday, May 8th- Private brunch at Citricos for 80 guests at 9am. Rest of the day at Magic Kingdom with family and friends.
Monday, May 9th- leave for honeymoon in Hawaii
We are having a hard time getting our numbers down for the brunch and dessert party. My side of the family (aunts, uncles, cousins) is HUGE in comparison to his. But that means that we can't cut anyone from the immediate family because you can't justify that. So, we decided to make the dessert party for ALL out of town guests (anyone not from FL) as a thank you for making the trip. This will be about 100 people but because it's Friday night a lot of people will be travelling so we may still make our 80 goal. The brunch is now only for the bridal party, our immediate family (grandparents, aunts and uncles, 1st cousins) and anyone else staying at the Grand Floridian. We added anyone staying at the resort because the brunch IS in the resort so we thought that made sense. I don't think anyone's feelings will be hurt this way. It was definitely tough trying to figure it out though. I'm still hoping it will just be 130ish at the wedding and reception. I'm a bit nervous it could get up to 140!
Another new development over the weekend was that my aunt and uncle who live in Orlando and just a few miles from the church offered to have people over for light snacks and drinks after the ceremony until 4pm before returning to the Grand Flo for the reception. This was SOOOO generous of them and will workout great since many people will have nothing planned for the span of time and the bridal party will be taking pictures back at the resort. The church is about 40 min from Disney so people should be getting back to the resort not too long before the cocktail hour starts at 6pm. I am also thinking of getting a caricaturist to begin at 5pm and go through the cocktail hour so that way people have something to do in the interim. Does anyone have experience with this? I feel terrible leaving people to do nothing for so long so Im thinking this might help fill some time. My mom thinks I should just have him start at 6pm in the event no one shows up early and I wasted a bunch of money, so I'm considering that too.
Here are some pictures from our engagement shoot in Atlanta. My other aunt offered to pay for the photography for the wedding for us so I'm having an Atlanta photographer come down to Orlando for the wedding. These are just a few...
I also forgot I had these from our planning session back in November.
