Okay, I'm taking the plunge and starting a planning journal. If I'm missing anything please let me know, also I still don't know how to add a photo to my little profile picture to the left so if you know how to do that then feel free to pipe up!

Where to start? Well we met at University, I was in my first year at the University of Manchester doing a BA and he was in the first year of his PhD at UMIST (now part of the University of Manchester).

We chatted online for quite a while before we started going out in Spring 2011, then in June 2012 we moved in together for our final year at Uni. Then in Winter 2006 I got offered a great job in Bournemouth (the south coast) and Simon made the big step to move with me (he's from near Manchester which is in the north west and hadn't lived anywhere else). After 2 years I got offered a promotion but it was in London, so we moved again at Christmas 2008.

Simon struggled to find a job in Bournemouth as his PhD is in computational chemistry, and is to do with the use of artificial intelligence in predicting reactions in computer modelling (or something like that - if you're interested you can read more in his published work in the International Journal of Quantum Physics), yes as you can see, although I don't understand most of his work, I am extremely proud of him and how hard he worked :lovestruc

When we got to London it was recession time and he could only get a part-time job in e-learning but a month or so ago he finally got a fantastic job in management information which is full time and he is very happy - so I am very happy too :goodvibes

We initially looked at getting married last year as we went to WDW in September but as he proposed in February we didn't really have enough time to pull everything together. So now we have just returned our LOA for 1st November at 10am at the Wedding Gazebo at the Yacht Club :lovestruc

This was us in the MK on our first trip in September 2010

Hi & welcome!
You will really like it here, can't wait to read about all of your plans! :)

Congratulations! I just had to follow along with the PJ or another Rebecca! ;)

My DF is also into computers, although he just is finishing up his bachelor's right now. He's decided to work for awhile first, but I know that he would love to go on to higher education and get a PhD. His ultimate goal would be to be involved in quantum computing... or to be a video game programmer!

Can't wait to hear more about your plans!

Hi! I have dipped in and out of so many other planning journals and found it so helpful and everyone is so friendly :goodvibes

I think Simon would LOVE to be a video game programmer but he always said you have to specialise really early to go into that field - his masters was actually in chemistry rather than computing - it's great that your DF knows what he wants to do early on, I hope it goes well for him.

Hello! I'm from the UK and got married at the yacht club gazebo last December - we had an amazing day you will love it!:goodvibes

I hope so :lovestruc From what I've seen so far everyone has such a great experience with Disney.

We were considering Wilderness Lodge but after looking at the sites on our trip in September we're sure that the Gazebo is the right location for us - it's such a beautiful spot :cutie:

The only thing we weren't 100% sure on was the date as we didn't know what the weather would be like as September was too hot to comfortably wear wedding attire, we hope November will be good - we looked at December like you, but the prices jumped so much that we stuck with November.

I've just realised I didn't include the proposal in my first post - how could I miss that?

We never really had the talk about getting married we just both assumed that we would pretty early on in the relationship. This was mostly because whilst at uni I stayed on campus for the holidays as apart from my half-sister I don't have any other family to return home to.

As Simon is from near Manchester and he was working/researching full time we pretty much spent every holiday together as most of my friends returned to their home towns for the holidays, it was brilliant, I had no doubts that he was the one for me :lovestruc

When we moved to London Simon asked me to look for rings I might like and it took months (maybe 6ish) to find the ring - it is almost the same as a ring that he bought me in our first year together (which was not quite real diamonds ;)) which I left in Spain by accident after a holiday and the sweetheart that he is, he replaced it for me.

Here it is, one carat of loveliness:

You can also see it on the picture in the first post on my finger :)

So I knew he bought the ring but I didn't know when he would propose. I thought it might be Valentine's Day but he suprised me by proposing the week before Valentine's day! He made spaghetti and meatballs from scratch, which is a big thing as he's a vegetarian and then after dinner he told me that I was his best friend and that he wanted us to spend the rest of our lives together - I, of course said yes :lovestruc

He then suprised me further by taking me to see the Lion King in the West End - it was the perfect day, and a great way to start on the path to a Disney wedding :wizard:

Oh wow! All sounds so romantic!

How cute he made meat balls for you!!! :) Lady and the tramp style! :)

Love your ring!

Cant wait to see more!

Thanks - Lady and the Tramp is my joint second fav Disney film (after Aladdin) :)

I probably should have mentioned that he also doesn't eat anything that obviously has egg in it - omelette, mayo, quiche, pancakes, that kind of thing, so I imagine using egg to bind the meatballs must have been tough too.

He has quite a few weird food quirks - he got poisoned as a kid from chicken when he was in hospital after breaking his arm. After that he slowly stopped eating all meat and anything eggy. He's been veggie now completely for about 14 years, and his pet peeve when he tells people he is a veggie is "do you eat fish?" "NO! I'm a vegetarian!" :rotfl2:

Plus, you'll not believe this but he doesn't eat white bread because it reminds him of chicken - I know, crazy! :sad2:

Thanks, I do love the ring - Simon is very happy as if we're doing anything he deems risky for my ring (arm flailing, being in water, that kind of thing) I can wear the original one he bought me without him having to worry I will lose it or damage it. Me i'd wear it all the time, but he's a bit of a worrier so I don't mind :goodvibes

Okay, so on to things that we have planned and done:

I went with my good friend Sally to look at wedding dresses last summer when we were looking at if it was feasable to get married in September (it wasn't, the dress couldn't be delivered in time).

As a plus-size bride I found this great place: www.heavenlybodiesbridal.co.uk and the lady is so lovely, I had such a wonderful appointment. I decided on this dress as it had the fullness I wanted without being heavy, plus I loved the jewel details.

From the back:

You can make the photos bigger by clicking on them :thumbsup2

But seeing as how long it has been since I tried it I had a few wobbles, plus I've lost a bit more weight and want to check it looks good on my new shape, I have booked another appointment for 7th May, so I will keep you posted.

I ordered my shoes from ebay, but the first pair was too large, so I sent it back for a smaller size and these fitted but one had a black mark on, so I am currently waiting for a new pair to be sent back and fingers crossed these will be perfect :)

Hiya I think November will be perfect wedding wise. It was actually a little chilly on the run up to our wedding but fortuently it really warmed up on the day and it was perfect - no humidity at all :)

I love you dress, shoes and rings - beautiful! :goodvibes

I did this review of our wedding - thought you might find it useful there arent too many reviews of the yacht club gazebo

Your review was super useful (I have read it before ;) ) - there is so much that I loved about your wedding - the colours, the cake (especially that topper), your dress and the pictures are gorgeous.

I think it was your review that helped us choose Rev. Kevin Knox, his website is great and the comms have been brilliant. We paid our holding depost for him as soon as Disney told us that they had received our signed LOA

Just wanted to say hello and congratulations. As a fellow November bride I am looking forward to reading your PJ and perhaps sharing a few ideas! Loving everything so far, especially the purple shoes!!

Very nice dress. And I love the shoes, hope they fit this time!

Thanks - me too, fingers crossed they're just right.

Yay for November brides! Have you started a PJ yet? Purple is our colour, Simon has his shirt and tie to match, I'll try and take a picture and post it this weekend.

Welcome & Congrats! :wave2:

Thank you :wave2:

So, last weekend we had a major breakthrough - Simon finally found his wedding ring after months of searching! After looking in London he found it in Manchester when we visited his Mum for Mother's Day :goodvibes

This is what he has chosen:

This is what I got:

I looked at getting one with princess cut diamonds to match the central stones on my ring - but as the stones outside the central stones on my engagement ring are round brilliant cut and channel set, this matches those perfectly :)

We have to wait to have them custom made as mine needs extra diamonds as the ring is 2/3 diamonds because I need it in a larger than a standard size (R).

Hey Again,

Beautiful wedding rings! :) How exciting! hehe

I love your dress! :) I hope it fits better too... I bet you will look lovely! What are you thinking for your hair?

The shoes are cool, liking that they are coloured!

AND ... Lady and the Tramp ROCKS! :) I watched it recently! :) Lovely film!
Me and your DF have something in common... HOWEVER... I am just about eating fish! lol so a pretent veggie! and the BREAD this is a bit wierd but I see what he means! :) LOL BLESS!

Any way..

Looking forward to hearing more! AND MORE PICS!
