So, we are sort of planning our first trip to Disneyland in June.

I say sort of because we are going with my daughter's (Skyler, almost 8) dance team. The director putting it all together has not given us any details yet except that we will be there somewhere between June 23 and July 2...we are also going to Las Vegas for part of that time...don't know which is first or for how many days.

I have been to DL when I was little...born in California before my parents stupidly moved back home to Chicago when I was about three! :rotfl:

The kids, Skyler and her brother Tyler (13), have never been there.

However, we are Disney World regulars.

And we are having a hard time getting excited abou tthis...and believe me we are all Disney all the time...I mean we plan vacations, we countdown to vacations, we count up money saved for vacations...and Disney World is just about the only place w evacation to...so it feels weird not to be excited!

I am hoping it is just becasue we don't know anything yet (like when Skye will have something organized with her team and when we can plan ourselves) and that once we do, which we were promised wiht be in the next ocuple of weeks, we will get more excited. But I have been slowly looking at info about DL online and some of it seems really cool but then I feel sad becasue we are not goin gto The World this year.

I am afraid that we won't have enough time to do what we want in order to make the trip worthwhile...and I don't know that this isn't a once in a life time trip for us...

So what do I need to know? What am I not inderstancing?

COME ON...get me excited!!!! I should be excited!!!!

I know that I cant get excited until its all booked and I know its for sure happening. My wife and I have been looking at going to DL for the last few months but it wasnt exciting at all until we finally picked out the dates and hotel and booked it all. Now we are both stoked and looking online at everything we can find for tips on DL even though we have been there before.

Being that its not a normal vacation where its just you and your family where you are free to plan each day as you wish it makes it a little more stressfull.

I would guess that once you start getting a better idea of exactly when you will be there and what days/ times you will have to plan yourself without being tied to the dance schedule, you will start to get excited. Planning the trip is for me what builds the excitement and it doesnt sound like you are able to really plan much of anything yet.

I agree with Coaches24. Planning the trip is what gets me excited! I would also read Hydroguy's thread "DL for WDW vets". I have been to DL many times, and I found it very interesting. Hope everything gets settled soon so you can really begin to plan your trip, and get excited!

Visiting DLR as part of a "team" can be a different, but still amazing, experience. There are a variety of "packages" that the dance coach could be considering. Some include some sort of backstage experience as well as performance inside the park. If there is a competition event going on at the same time, the team may be busy preparing and competing one of hte days and reserving the other day for fun at the park. You really need to know what type of trip your coach is planning before you can get excited ... and that is probably why you are not yet. You are not sure what to be excited about.

You are going to have a fun time!!!
Even if the dance team limits things some, not to worry.
When you do get the schedule for this trip post it here.

Being at DL and CA for any amount of time is better than sitting at home.

You will see what there is here between DL and CA.
You may even decide to come back for a family trip.
Having this trip under your belt and the assistance of DIS'ers you can plan the perfect trip for your family.
