Reassigning Points...is this possible?

I will try to make this as clear as possible...

We are going to WDW 10/15-10/22 of this year. My sister's family and our parents (6 people total) had BWV points transferred into my account and I booked them into a 2BR at BWV for the full week with one BWV left over. Our points are at HHI and AKV (Feb UY for both) so we need to wait until the 7 month window opens before we can make our reservations.

Here is the breakdown of the points I will have available...
28 AKV points BANKED from 2015
100 AKV points CURRENT
50 HHI points BANKED from 2015
15 HHI points CURRENT (*it is a 50 point contract but we will need 135 for our 2017 vacation so I will need to bank at least 35)
1 BWV point BANKED (it was from the 2015 points, OCT UY, that we transferred in and banked prior to use)

That totals up to 194 available points...and I need 194 points for my plan:goodvibes.

Here's my plan...based on today's availability which is subject to change at any time:thumbsup2...

Since the rest of the family is at BWV and that is not available, I looked at the BCV. There is availability for a single night (10/15) in a studio and the remainder of the week is available in a 1BR. My intention is to try and book that Saturday night in the studio and then move into a 1BR for the rest of the week. I will have enough to go online at 8am on March 15 to try and snag that BCV studio for the night. Here's where I need your input...please try to follow...at 8am on the 16th, I will try to book the 1BR at BCV for the remaining 6 nights. The problem is that I will be ONE POINT SHORT because of that single transferred point. That means that I would have to call at 9am and hope that the 1BR is still available for the week. This is what I was thinking....I will have ALL of my 2017 AKV points available so I could simply borrow the one point I need and make the reservation online at 8am. If I did that, could I call in at 9am and ask them to exchange a CURRENT AKV point with the transferred BWV point? That way, I could still bank it and have all 100 of my AKV points available next year. Since I am doing this at 7 months, I would not be circumventing the home resort window. Does this make sense? I know that BCV during F&W for a full 6 nights will require me to be online at exactly 8am and I think waiting until 9am will land me on the waitlist.

(I have another scenario in mind and I am starting a new thread for opinions on that too:thumbsup2)

Yes, they could do that. Or else after you book the studio you could call in and see if they would switch the transferred point to that reservation so that you don't have to borrow anything.

I'd expect though that you are going to see a few changes in availability between now and when you can book for Oct.

If I understand this correctly you want to borrow one point from your next use year. Once a point is borrowed it can not be put back into its regular use year. It would stay in the year it is borrowed to and expire at the end of that year.

Correct....which is why I would want them to swap the TRANSFERRED point for a CURRENT point, thus making that point bankable, which would essentially return it to the 2017 UY. It's all semantics, but the net result would mean that I would have 100 points to use in 2017 but only 99 that I could bank.

Yeah....that sucks too because I keep getting my hopes up...like seeing that 1BR std BWV sitting open for almost the whole month, except for the week that we need:sad:. I have a standard studio secured at AKV for the first two nights so we should have enough points to cover almost any 1BR that would still have availability at the 7-month mark (SSR, OKW or AKV). I know that the studios can go fast so I made sure to lock one up in my 11-month window.

If all else fails, we may just do the whole week in a 1BR standard at AKV-Kidani, which is our home resort. We sure would like to try something different, though...but I really don't like studios:crowded:.

Instead of booking all 6 nights in the BCV 1 bedroom by borrowing, why not book 5 nights online at 8 am? (No one but a BCV owner could book that last night until the 7 month window opens for it. IMO, there wouldn't be much chance of that happening). Then, fter MS opens, call and ask to add the 6th night to your reservation. That way, there would be no need to borrow (reallocate points) and MS can combine your 5 nighter with the 1 nighter that they make in that same call.

Good luck!

That's what I'd do. Don't forget to wait list anything the you might want for later, ? BWV. You could always bank any extra points later that might be freed up.

Great idea! I wasn't sure if that would be possible...I guess I was thinking I'd have to wait until the 7 month window opened for that last day, but now I see what you mean.

I'm still really contemplating the Poly for two nights...

If I decide to go that route, I will book the first two nights at the Poly, the last 5 at BCV, and waitlist the last 5 in a pool/garden BWV room. I think that would be a great trip!
