reassign entire trip

We're 54 days from the start of our trip so I've got everything set up. Hotel reservations, dining, tickets, and FPs. My parents are joining us and while my dad has his own MDE account, my mom's is managed by me. She is NOT tech savvy.

We just found out that she may have to have knee surgery and may not be able to join us. My dad's sister may be able to take her spot. But should I reassign everything to an MDE account with her name? It would be managed by me as well. Or just change the name on that account of my mom's maybe? OR maybe just leave it as is and she just goes under her name? We would NOT be switching people midweek or anything so it's not like we're trying to share tickets or anything weird like that.

I'm mostly worried about losing the FPs if I reassign everything. I was really happy with what I booked and could never come close to recreating those.

I've never had a situation like this come up before. Thanks for any help!

No. Go with your option of switching names in the Profile that has the linked ticket and linked FPs.

whatever you do, MDE is super buggy and leave tons of time for Disney IT to fix whatever gets messed up

Get screen shots before the changes in case things get messed up.
this is a good idea, they can see the history of any FPs that get changed but not the cancelled ones and luckily I had a hand written list to give them direction. Ended up with a lot of "multiple experience FPs" but they were able to fix it.

Can't she add her aunt to her mde and then call disney and explain the situation and have them change her mom's fp's to the aunt? I thought I read that can still be handled by cm's??

It’s easiest to do a simple name change or let the Aunt “be” Mom. Disney doesn’t care about names for tickets and FPs.

I'm starting to think that's going to be the easiest solution. They have the same last name. Why would disney care as long as we aren't trying to switch people midweek or something?

The only potential hang up I see could be that my mom has used the account in the past, with her fingerprint for the ticket (different tickets, just linked to the same MDE). Does that fingerprint scan roll over from trip to trip?

It doesn’t roll. Each new ticket has a new biometric scan linked to it so your Aunt will be fine “being” Mom. ;)

Similar question: Package booked with mom, dad, kids in one room and uncle and grandparents in another. Grandparents are wavering about going. I figured it was easy to just change name on the reservation if grandparents opt out and other uncle/aunt want to go, but they bought the trip insurance. Anybody know if the trip insurance can be transferred to replacement uncle/aunt? Still 4 months away from trip, but insurance would be forfeited if grandparents just don't go.

It’s best to post this on the Resort Board as you’ll receive more responses.
