Reasons behind the on-site hotels' pricing?

The Royal Pacific is always the least expensive, and the Portofino is always the most expensive (both Loews hotels), with the Hard Rock always in the middle. What is the reasoning behind this?

I suspect that the RPR is the least expensive because it does a volume business with convention facilities on site. PBR likes to bill itself as a bit more exclusive. Having stayed at all three, the RPR is our favorite by far for service, ambiance and convenience.

Completely false. I have seen each one of the three come up the most expensive. Many times the Hard Rock is the most expensive and occasionally the Royal Pacific is the most.

thank you!

i have been saying that for years.

when i booked rph for my fall trip, pbh is cheaper than rph for my dates.

this is just a guess but, i think occupancy level might play a part on hotel room costs.

if one of the hotels has low bookings, wouldn't you think that they would adjust their prices to bring in more peeps?

Room type and level would be my guess.

RPR seems to fill up quicker because of the lower starting price on regular rooms.

PBH is def more of a luxury hotel (no onsite laundry) RPR is more laid back. Both are beautiful and totally worth the $ when you compare them to Disney's deluxe hotels.

RPH is not always cheapest..it varies on occupancy alot too..RPH came up more expensive when I originally priced out my last trip.

Definitely agree with this. I will usually stay at whichever one comes up cheapest as they're all great, but if the Portofino is within $20-$25 a night of the cheapest, I stay there. The Portofino might be the best theme park hotel I've ever stayed in, probably better than anything on Disney property.

Room size also plays a large factor.

I know it's why we are willing to pay more for the Portofino!

Although on this trip (just home today), at the time that I was booking, the least expensive of the two Loews resorts was Portofino.

Now, this wasn't between two of the same room types, because the 2 Queen standard view was NEVER available for our dates while booking (or checking compulsively). So I was getting rates for higher levels of rooms at the RP than I was for PB.

But...that's all that was available to compare, so in my case, of the *available* rooms for my stay, Portofino was ALWAYS the least expensive of the two!

For our upcoming trip, HRH is the most expensive. Portofino is in the middle. I'd consider switching, but it's still $60/night more than RPR. That's $250 over 4 nights, and I'm not willing to spend that much more for a room we'll sleep in and not much more.

:thumbsup2AGREE...I don't care what it costs, I will always stay there if it is available..I love Disney and stay deluxe there, and compared to Portofino bay, Disney deluxe seems alot "less deluxe"

If you ever visit Tokyo Disney stay at the MiraCosta. Very similar to the Portofino. In fact, I think part of the MiraCosta theme is also Portofino, Italy.

Resort prices seem to change all the time, so just depends, i had PBH for our July stay 2 years ago cheaper than RPR.

If you look at rack rate from cheapest to most expensive is RPR/HRH/PBH. If you add in discounts thats when this might change depending on what discount is offered at each resort. The same thing applies when booking a Disney Hotel. Since I book with an interline discount. The discount is the same as each hotel therefore op's analysis is always correct for us.

discounts %age are the same for all.

if you use the promo, that is the same amount of the discount for all of the hotels.
same goes for the aph rates, aaa rates.

start with the rack rate and apply the discount.
the end is where you will see the difference.
