Prices For 2 adults this Summer
5 basic quick serve meals and maybe 3 sit down dinner meals(noting fancy), plus maybe a glass of wine or beer with dinner. I'm figuring $200 a day, is this too much or not enough? TIA

I think you can answer your own question by doing what we did for our last trip--sit down with the All Ears menus and decide what you'd each order at places where you'd want to eat.

Do that for two or three days to get a good sense of how much per day you'll need.

Worked well for us for our first no-dining-plan trip last fall.

If you are not sticking to CS free tap water or bringing in your own beverages, don't forget to budget a ton for beverages in the summer heat and humidity. It's $4/beverage on average and these will add up, unless you make plans.

We are two as well. $200 is a pretty good number the kicker is if you add any apps or desserts, if one drink is really two, and if you are doing any festival eating or drinking because that adds up in a hurry even when you split items. Also, remember any snacks, breakfast item, or coffee you might get.

Thanks for this. Trying to budget food for a family of 4. Going to sit down and do the calculations like you suggested and bring a water bottle with a filter.... Fingers crossed we don't break the bank.

We went last summer and ate similar to you and our actuals were $110 (or was it $120?) per adult, per day so $200 budget for two sounds like a good base.

Not hard to do those kind of numbers if you eat in the park or resort all three meals and skip the turkey leg or knock off fast food.
Character breakfast @ $60 each and two table service meals, one for lunch and one for dinner @ $60 to $100+ per person for ap or salad, entre and dessert. This is before tips or drinks. And not signature dining.

I would look at the menus for where you plan to dine and what you plan to get.
Our last trip, $200 per day would have worked on some days and not been close on days with more expensive restaurants.

I’ve always said-it’s a math exercise

I know folks that spend less than $50 a day and some that spend $300 pp or more. It all depends

What I always suggest is to set up a spread sheet. Your choice on column/labels, one needs to be people names and the other the day or resident. Once you get started it gets easier. I like names for rows and restaurants/days on top. If you are not spreadsheet savvy paper works too. Get you calculator out!

Heres the link to our menus. Most have pics of the location and some food. Reviews are a bonus! https://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=169

ok, back to spreadsheet. As you go through the menus, pick what people will most likely pick. This can be a fun part of the planning. Ok it might be just me 😆. Remember it’s not exact, menus change, but it gives you the most accurate budget for your family. Always err on the high side. If one entree is $25 and one $30, enter the $30. Add in tax, someone will hopefully post. Add in gratuities also. You will be able to calculate each meal each day. Add in snacks/drinks.

This was very commonly done w the dining plans, to see if you break even or not. It’s also a great way to figure out how much your desired adrs will cost. It’s also a great resource if you get sticker shock at the cost and need to cut something. Good luck!

I base it on the old DDP price so around USD140 per day, per adult including tips. We generally just have a coffee/smoothie at RD, an in park light lunch and then a TS dinner. We don’t snack, but we generally have a beer/glass of wine/cocktail at lunch time and an aperitif and share a bottle of wine at supper. I always have money left over.
