REAS for a single parent

I know this a supposed to be a romantic package for couples but would they allow a single parent to purchase it. I would love to have two massages, breakfast in bed, Palo's reservation and chose my dining rotation. It would be alot cheaper to do this especially with the huge price increase in the spa treatments. Please don't flame me for not wanting to keep the "romance" part of the package but it sure would be a great treat for a very busy single parent.

It is my understanding that the massage MUST be a couples massage only. Not 2 separate massages.

d in your case maybe they're willing to let you take 2 single massages because you are a couple with a reluctant participant in the massage portion of the pkg ... but a single person booking REAS really defeats the purpose of the pkg (romance) and DCL may feel the only reason a single person would book it is for the prebooking advantages.

The only thing I can recommend is calling DCL and asking.

Just another FYI about the REAS. The dining rotation selection and the brunch/tea reservations are done as a favor on this. It is not technically included as part of the package.

The actual package is for the couples massage (either the spa taster or the well being), the Palo dinner with romantic turn down service following, a champagne breakfast in the room, and the gift basket in the room upon arrival.

dotterson--if they are allowing you 2 massages that is definitely an exception because the official stance on this is that it must be the couples massage (one of the two listed) only.

I am pretty sure several people have posted about getting two seperate spa treatments. I'm hoping so because I'd like to book this and get both as my DH isn't into the spa thing. I am pretty sure if you have money and want to give it to Disney, they will take it;) . I'm pretty sure they would let you book it twice.;)

I hope your family has a great time and that you are able to get the REAS and your spa sessions ans Palo ressies taken care of the easy way!!!

the only thing the CM told me was they were not taking any reservations for 2005 as of yet!

She knew that I was the only Adult in the party, age wise anyway!LOL

When we cruised, 1/31, once I was onboard I was able to change my couples massage reservation to two seperate treatments for myself. I booked one spa taster and one well-being massage. DH was "not into it" as suggested in a previous post. I was prepared for them to say no, but the spa had no problem with it. There was a bit of a mix up with the accounting though. I'd suggest you get a print out prior to the night before disembarkation so you can straighten out any problems.

From my conversations with the reservationist with DCL Dining; (the infamous Debbie), they like prebooking all this stuff. Her words, "it keeps the you and the ship organized".

Some of our Palo reservations seemed to be lost in the shuffle, but they too were more than happy to seat us when I told them we had booked via the REAS.

I think this would be a wonderful thing to do for yourself. I'm still enjoying the basket and we have yet to open the champagne. :) What a great idea to treat yourself on your cruise.

I agree that Disney would be more than willing to take your money. If you must have 2, put a 'player to be named later' on the package. Who knows - maybe you'll meet that perfect someone on the cruise. ;) Best of luck to you. :D

I asked before if my sister and I could share this pkg also, (no reponses thou) it is a shame that disney only has a pkg for "couples" and us "singles" are shut out. :( The REAS has some very nice features and should be able to accomdate a single with a few minor changes, so if your willing to pay for it, I don't see the harm in asking disney about it. Tink1663: I would be interested to know what disney tells you also! ;)

You don't really think that everyone that is hopping on the REAS bandwagon since the spa prices went up is in it for the romance now do you? We all know better than that. As soon as spa prices went up it was posted all over the board that the REAS package was cheaper and everyone was booking their massages that way.

tink1663, call and book your REAS package and verify that you can do both massages yourself. And if they start to say NO, keep going up the ladder til you get to someone that says yes!!

Scratch42 - The reason they aren't booking any for 2005 yet is there will be a price adjustment and they can't change it for any 2004 bookings, only for 2005 bookings. They have advertised the $299 price through the end of this year. But, rumor has it that they may be able to start taking them after this new system is complete (should be done by Tues). Hope this helps.

Debbie told me 2005 would be available for booking in Oct or Nov of this year - because they have to make decisioins about the summer 2005 Calif based cruises (what will be offered, what won't, etc.). At least they aren't dumping the REAS package for 2005 altogether (it would be nuts IMHO to drop something so popular), but it did sound like a price "adjustment" was in the works.

MKY: I can't see why you couldn't. How could Disney discriminate between 2 females, 2 males, or 1 female/1 male - think it would be against the law. DCL doesn't watch how you carry out the REAS (believe that would be against the law too ;) ). I would think you and your sister would be able to use the REAS without problem. ::yes::

Don't these people know that am an overplanner!LOL

Let's hope the price does not go too much higher or else I don't think many of us will even consider it, let alone book it!

Me thinks It's Time Disney Take a Closer Look at Another Spa Company!

I feel your pain :teeth: I am quite the "overplanner" myself ;)

I imagine the price might jump to $349 to compensate for the spa price increases.

As for DCL going with another spa company - isn't this basically the spa company that all of the cruise lines use? Is there another comparable company?

Of course, if DCL signed a long term contract with the company, there isn't much they'll be able to do until the contract us up for renewal.

Maybe the spa price increases are because they aren't selling enough (overpriced) product to guests who use their services.
