The good things definitely outweighed our bad in our experience with REAS package. But just to share...

Good:
1 - All reservations, dining rotation were as I requested.
2 - Gift basket was very nice!
3- Massage, fabulous.

Not so good:

1- the high pressure sales pitch for products at the end of the massage!! I was all tensed up by the time they finally let us out of the room. Not happy with that at all. My husband and I literally felt trapped by the two masseuses (sp?). They insisted that we buy the products immediately and use them immediately or all the "bad toxins" that are floating around wouldn't be released. gimme a break!!!

2 - The "romantic turn down" after our Palo dinner, consisted of a plastic bag of rose pedals left on our bed. and some obscene looking towel animal...I'm guessing it was supposed to be a snake. (I'll post a pic when I get a minute.) Obviously our room steward had no clue what was supposed to be done with the rose pedals. :( very disappointing, especially since I wanted to surprise my husband with it.

When I get a chance I'll shoot off an email to DCL just to let them know that their stewards should know what to do with the rose pedals and the spa needs to know about the high pressure sales pitch!!

If you want to surprise your husband/wife, etc. with the turn down service, make sure your room steward knows what's supposed to be done. ::yes::

Hey P-

Sorry it was a disappointment. (Just what you need -- an obscene towel animal!!!!) ARG! Otherwise, it sounds great!

I have been bugging my hubbie to do the dual massages, but it's looking like it will only be me. If it is, and I get the heavy-duty drill, it might not be pretty! ;)

We're not going until Dec. When do you think I should call Debbie?

I'm looking forward to this because I was shot down for a vow renewal (15 years). Hubbie said it was too expensive and something we should do in the future... Oh well. I can always strive for that, I suppose.:p

the towel animal isn't working :(

I've been told when you fill out the questionnaire for the spa, put "no sales pitch" on there and they won't do the hard sell when the massage is over. haven't tried that myself, but will this Nov. :) I don't think Disney has much control over the spa, it's run by an outside company and probably a great deal of their profit comes from the product sales .. I don't DCL would be able to get them to change that, but putting "no sales pitch" on your form should (hopefully) do the trick.

Bummer about the romantic turn down too :(

Sorry to hear of your disappointment. Real bummer about the rose petals. As others have noted, when you click on the link you gave for the towel animal, it informs you that you aren't the owner of this album and won't let you get in. You need to fix this so we can get a good look at this "animal" !

Sorry to hear of this. The snake really isn't very romantic, especially how "tired" it looks.:p

OMG!! too funny.,.. ! :rotfl: I think that towel animal for sure needed a little:genie: genie magic / and :wizard: pixie dust !!!:hyper:

Oh my! That snake is hilarious, so funny. And the rose petals in the plastic bag is so very romantic....thanks for making me smile after a hard day at work!

I am with everyone else. Snake?? I would have been embarrassed if my children had seen that "snake".

Its too bad. I have read so many good things about REAS. You should definately include the picture when you send DCL an email.

I'm so sorry about your turn down service. I think that was the best part of our REAS!! Our son wouldn't allow us to have a couples massage. He absolutely refused to stay in Flounders the am we had the appointment...he wouldn't stop screaming!! Hubby went back to the room w/him and I wen for a massage. They let hubby rebook for another date/time, when they had a cancellation. There were a few spots he could choose from, too. So that was wonderful of them to do!!! On the sales pitch, I actually wanted some products and my person didn't even mention them to me, I had to ask. They did do the pitch to hubby, though.

Our room steward was so great w/the turndown...he was out getting more things to finish up and saw us coming down the hall..and made us turnaround. We had roses from the second you walked in the door to the bed, all over the bed. In the tub..I still don't get that one. We had 2 swans as our towel animal w/a huge towel hear around them. He made a basket out of a towel and must have put at least 50 chocolate mints in it. It was great!!!princess:

That's the room steward that I want for our REAS!!!! Hope he has taught the others. I would love them in the tub. Soaking with rose petals - how romantic.:lovestruc

I am sorry to hear about your experience but I am cracking up. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard about a post. That "snake" is hilarious and the petals in the plastic bag are just too funny.

I am so glad that I clicked on this thread.

I'm so sorry you had some disappointments, but I have to admit I haven't laughed this hard at anything on the DIS in a LONG time! That snake is just too much! Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you were gracious about the less-than-excellent service you received and didn't let it ruin your trip.

I laughed so hard looking at that picture of a "snake" that I almost woke my daughter up LOL!!
I am really surprised about the sales pitch though....I had 3 spa treatments on my May 8th cruise and after each one they gave me a list of things I "needed" to buy...I said no thanks and that was it...no hard sell. I had different people each time too....

Phyllis:

I am ROFL!!! That snake?, is HILLARIOUS!!! I wish I had seen that picture when we were on the ship Michael would not have heard the end of it, course neither would have you!!

That is just too funny

Let's be honest - you probably had the most memorable REAS in history!!! Just think of the stories you will be able to tell your friends for the rest of your life. And you have the picture to prove it! The rest of us were just stuck with a nice romantic evening, rolling around in vegetation - while you got to be a snake charmer!!!

That is the funniest thing I have seen on these boards!

Sorry to hear about the turn down and the errrrrr a snake??!!

Just curious if you were on the Wonder or the Magic?
