Has this ever happened for you?
You see something you want on the trade board.
But the person is only wanting CREDITS!!!!
You have a little credits, but not nearly enough for this item.
You try offering what you have, but the person gets really mad at you.
Then you get mad back at them because you think they overreacted.
This happens to me quite often, any tips or comments about this issue?

First of all, I hope no one really gets angry with one another on the trade board. I think it would be silly to get all riled up over something like VMK items. However, I do believe that the person selling items for credits only has the right to ask for only credits. Maybe that person only wants credits because he or she really needs them to buy new things (especially with it being October).

Plus, the worth of items vary from person to person. What is valuable to one person doesn't have as much value to another. If a person clarifies that he or she wants credits, it means that that person will get exactly what is wanted instead of debating over the worth of individual items.

If you think about it though, the same thing happens the other way around. You get upset when the person only wants credits. Other people may get upset when people want everything but credits since they don't have anything rare and can only offer credits. There's never really a happy medium; there's always going to be people on either end. The only thing that you can do is to respect the person's wishes and just wait for someone else to have the same item for trade. If you want to offer an item anyway, just politely ask if it would be acceptable in place of credits. If it is refused, there's really nothing more that you can do except respect that decision.

Many people have said time and time again (and it's something I believe as well) that a good trade is when both people are happy with the results regardless of what other people outside of the trade may think. If that's the case, then you just have to accept the fact that a particular person may want credits because that person has to be happy with his/her side of the trade too.

::yes:: That's a great answer. People like what they like. I agree with you, llama, that sometimes it SEEMS that people are asking for a little much for their items. I've been guilty of that myself. But hey, people want what they want. It stinks when you really want an item but don't have enough for it, sure, but just wait a while. Maybe eventually you'll be able to gain enough to get the item from someone else later. It just takes some patience, but it will pay off.

I understand where your coming from. I dont have a kiosk so I cant trade credits. Do I really want to spend 30,000 credits to be able to trade credits? No. So I kinda just deal with it. There really isn't much I can do. I think the main reason there are alot of people looking for credits right now because its Halloween and Christmas is coming close behind.

I have more than enough to buy one (50K), but I have no interest in making quests, or trading my credits. ( I trade for all my credits, because I don't play games )

just a little note, this is a rant thread, not an answer my rant thread. Please don't post if you disagree.

As long as it is on topic everyone is welcome to put their opinions in this thread ;)

Forum rules apply to all threads, we dont have different rules in each one.

On your topic. There should be no comments in a trade thread, so this really shouldnt be a problem. If someone acts disrepectfully PM a mod and we will review it.

Only thing I hate on the trade board is the rich people that come in swoop down and take what I really want. Ill always see something I really want and Ill make a good offer then someone will come along and offer 54 Sparrow Suits or something and Ill be out of luck.

Aengus good point.

Plus you asked for comments about the issue in your last sentence. So your controdicting yourself.

Alright. People are allowed to give their opinions especially on a PUBLIC FORUM. If you make a comment degrading how something is done, prepare for at least a little criticism. The whole "don't speak up unless you agree with me" bit. It's a little immature and entirely pointless. If people didn't have differing opinions, nothing would get done. Stubborn people, who might actually be wrong on the issue, might learn something from listening to other people.
As for "not having enough credits", learn to be smart with your credits. If something you want is really worth it, you will work hard to earn the credits to buy it (That's not just VMK, that's life). Even if it means not spending money on weekend items or just playing a few extra games, if you really want something, earn it.
People are allowed to request what they want for the items they possess. It's that simple. If somebody wants credits for their Stitch Hat and it makes them happy, that's their call.
I think RachelNinja said it best. "The worth of items vary from person to person. What is valuable to one person doesn't have as much value to another. If a person clarifies that he or she wants credits, it means that that person will get exactly what is wanted instead of debating over the worth of individual items." And although I probably just went and ranted myself, take heed to what other people say.
You just might learn something.
Had to get that off my chest. I'm tired of hearing complaints about a virtual game.

thanks aengus.

i was going to post this on someone's trade thread, but i remembered.

I have watched the trade board and noticed you seem to have an issue with this repeatedly. I would suggest that while some people do ask too much for items it is your responsibility to make good trades acceptable to both parties. If you offer and they ignore it or reject it, you should either counter the offer or walk away. Offering too low and repeatedly at that could be considered a little like spamming a thread, which is not allowed. If something happens once it could just be a freak thing, if it happens repeatedly - some of the issue may lay on your side.

I have this happen to me all the time too. You're not a lone in that feeling

i believe that i never offer too low, because i am not the richest of people

You have answered your own rant. If you never offer too low then that is what you are willing to spend for an item. The seller has a price in mind as well, it may be higher than your offer or the bidding may make him take a wait and see attitude. Remember getting into a bidding war when an item is "hot" does not always bring the best value to the buyer.
Keep offering low, but don't expect to get the item each time.

Good luck!

Maybe your expectations are off.

How much you have does not effect the price of an item to the person you are trading with. Unless its someone trying to do something nice.

You are never going to get a lower price when bidding against someone who has more than you becuase you have less.

Take your smaller items and trade them up to a higher item. Aim lower short term in order to aim at a big goal later. Think firewalls not sparrow. Until you have a bunch of firewalls, then think sparrow. then repeat.

You should be a public speaker

I love when people only want credits because I'm so new that I don't have much rare to trade, but I'm fairly good at the mini games so I can earn credits quickly.

what do you want? ROFL

Clarity you are dead on there. Thats exactly how new people who want to get into trading need to start. Learn the games and play hard. Traders spend their time trading not playing games. They are always looking for credits especially halloween and Christmas.
