Last night, one of my Facebook friends (old friend from high school whom I haven't seen in several years) posted a picture of her 8-year old daughter sitting on the toilet with a laptop in her lap. Apparently, the mom thought it was funny. I didn't comment on it but seriously thought of dropping her as a friend. I thought it was in very poor taste to expose a child on the Internet like that. By the time I went to bed, there were two other comments. One person thought it was funny. Another said the girl was going to kill her mom when she saw the post. This morning, the picture was taken down with a big apology from the mom. She said she and her daughter both thought it was funny, but apparently others did not. Really? How could a picture of your kid on the toilet amuse anyone? :confused3

To each their own, but I really have never "gotten" the whole facebook, myspace, twitter, tweeting, twitiling whatever. First off, I already screen my one cell phone, why do I need other avenues to screen from as well? As for putting my childs picture on these things, I personally think that is crazy, there are so many pedofiles and creeps in this world, why on earth would you want to put something up like that for these types of people to become aware of?

If I want to talk to a friend, I call them on my phone. And the whole tweeting thing which has become a big deal with a lot of athletes which are getting themselves into some hot water over, I don't get that either. :laundy: I'm watching the Superbowl or whatever, but I'm also staring at my cellphone and tweeting thoughts about the players? :confused3 Why, is watching a football game not entertaining enough for you that you have to communicate to the world every little fleeting thought that enters your mind? :confused3

And the people that subscribe to these peeps sites, and respond to or write things like, "getting up, making coffee, need to make a grocery list, but can't decide on if I want to get a special brewed coffee, or regular roast":confused3 :rolleyes1 OMGosh, why does anyone care? :confused3

I would probably find that funny too but would not think that posting it on facebook would be appropriate. We have a funny picture of DS18 when he was potty training "reading" the newspaper. We laugh at the picture but would never put it on Facebook (nor did we sent it to family members).

Even if I was outta my mind enough to post something like that on FB, I can 100% guarantee my 8 year old wouldn't think it was funny that I did.

My wife post a picture of my then 7 year old daughter on FB... she was wearing really long rubber gloves and cleaning the toilet - her own idea. She was playing "cleaning lady, like Miss Vickie". ( and you actually can't see my daughter's face as her hair was in the way )

Some people thought it funny, some did not. But I'm pretty sure my wife would not have posted a pic like you stated.

Funny for the family, not funny for the public. The Mom probably had a few people in mind when she posted it, forgetting about the rest. Personally, I don't allow any photos of my kids on FB or anywhere else public but I like seeing other people's kids, if I saw that I would just think it was an oops moment and let it go.

I post all of our vacation pics and photos from different events, but no toilet humor. However, there is a picture of my son dressed as a flapper. He has the hips and legs for the outfit, so I figured - why not let everybody see.

I wouldn't post something like that.

I do post pictures of my kids on Facebook but my account is locked down to just friends.

I am careful about my children and the internet. Too many weirdos out there.

Your son sounds like a great kid! :goodvibes

It could also lead to some legal trouble if someone decides it's inappropriate

I wouldn't post a photo like that. My DS's would be really mad at me. I do post photos of them on facebook which I have set for just my friends to see. Although they are in my profile pic, which I think anyone can see.

I don't mind their photos being online. My oldest has his photo on the school website. That doesn't bother me. They have also been in the newspaper for different sports or school occasions. I don't think it is much different than that. Anyone in public can see those photos.
