Really frustrated

A couple of ideas for you:

Be sure to have everyone gets the maximum amount of room keys allowed for their rooms! That will help if the cousins want to go swimming together both at Kidani and at BCV.

You could still get on the waitlist for BCV. People really do change their plans all the time. I'd say about 80 percent of my waitlists have come through.

I own at BCV as well; you were smart to buy where you want to stay! That is a tough resort to get into.

That's a great idea about the keys, didn't think of that. Have you had waitlists at BCV come through for 5 days? As I just said in my previous response, we are thinking about making our last night waitlist a cash reservation at VWL so we have those 5 nights, and then waitlisting both BCV and BWV. Have you had success ever getting that many nights with a waitlist? At this point, it's not that big a deal if it didn't come through....but worth a shot.

Honestly, try splitting it up into a couple of waitlists--or even consider having them waitlist you night by night, even if you have to alternate with your cash stay. We have had 100% luck with our waitlists--each and every time we've gotten what we wanted. For example, a week ago I booked a 1-bedroom standard view at Kidani for late May with a waitlist for Savanna view. It came through today, and we're only about a month out.

Waitlists work.

book what you can at BCV and wait list the rest, things are likely to come around eventually but maybe not soon enough to limit stress in this situation.

I turned my frown upside down.
Booked a Kidani Grand Villa from 11/11-11/15, and a 2 BR at VWL from 11/15-11/19. Waitlisted for the night of the 19th, so hopefully we'll be at VWL until the 20th--or we'll probably pay cash for the last night.

I figured if I can't get people to switch to a different resort, I'll buy their affection with a GV.

When push came to shove, we needed to use points and didn't feel it necessary to pay cash. We will have some family staying with us, so ultimately we'll have fun and not being at BCV won't kill us.

Sounds like a fun trip!

Sounds like it is working out well for you. The GV sounds awesome!! I hope whatever you decide for WLs comes through!

It sounds like a really fun trip. Enjoy your family time and your new DVC membership. :goodvibes

I am confused about something-I thought I could only have 2 active waitlists? So if I split them up night by night, does that count as one waitlist b/c it's consecutive nights at the same resort?
Excuse my ignorance, I'm new to this!

Dean, I think we're going to do just that. And while I will be stressed, not as much now that we have an option that will ultimately work out. So, if the waitlist comes through, great....but it's going to be a great vacation either way.

Night by night waitlists are no longer allowed.

Wait List
Find out the policies and procedures for requesting alternate vacation choices.

If you are unable to secure the reservations you want, rest assured that you do have options. The key is to have alternate choices selected when you contact Member Services. Being flexible with alternate dates, resorts and/or accommodations can assist you in your effort to secure a reservation. However, if you need a specific reservation that is unavailable, you can ask to be placed on a waiting list.

What you need to know about the wait list for Disney Vacation Club Resorts:

•During the Home Resort Priority, you can only wait list at your Home Resort.
•You can have up to two active wait list requests per Membership per Use Year.
Wait list requests for consecutive nights cannot be split into separate night-by-night requests.
•Your request will remain on the wait list for up to 31 days before your requested check-in date. If you'd like to keep your name on the wait list beyond that time, contact Member Services at least 32 days prior to your requested check-in date.
•There is no wait list available within seven days of your requested check-in date.
•If your wait list request becomes available, Member Services will automatically confirm the reservation and mail a confirmation to you.
•There is no need to contact Member Services once your request has been placed on the wait list.
•All other wait list requests or previously confirmed reservations for comparable dates will be cancelled when a wait list request is confirmed. Additionally, you will not be contacted prior to a wait list request being confirmed and a confirmation letter being mailed to you.
•As a courtesy to other Members, please contact Member Services if you no longer wish to be on the wait list.
Tip: For a better chance of securing your vacation plans when you call Member Services, have second and third choices in mind. Since being on the wait list does not guarantee you a vacation spot, consider whether you can alter your arrival or departure dates or use different accommodations, among other things.

Night by night waitlists are no longer allowed.
I think you can still do this on a limited basis within the limit of 2 WL pending at one time. What you won't be able to do is get a partial fill on a pending WL. You'd need enough points to hold the present reservation and fill the WL days though.

What I was trying to say about not being able to book at 11 months out is, don't promise something you can't be guaranteed to get.

In other words, when you just become a DVC member, don't plan a big family trip providing others villa space until you can book at 11 months out. But that comes a little late for you. Just a forewarning to other potential or brand new members.

Enjoy what you have for now and maybe your wait list will come through. :thumbsup2

While I agree with what you are saying, please understand that we did not plan a big family trip in anticipation of using DVC. Last year after we stayed at BCV, we decided to plan a big family trip, and reserved rooms with cash. We just bought into DVC, and were hoping to use it to stay at BCV. The family we are bringing along were promised nothing; its family that otherwise were not going to go, so we offered to help. This trip was not built around nor predicated upon us closing and booking at BCV. As I noted before, I had a cash reservation at BCV since before I even made the DVC offer.
So I did not throw out a blanket invitation to 15 people and then expect to get them all rooms. Now that I have rooms, we are going to include some who were not going and a few who had a cash reservation to save them the money.

I do agree that planning a big family trip around DVC requires the full 11 months.

As an update, we reserved the last night (11/20) at VWL with cash and waitlisted a 2 BR at BCV and BWV. I was told there are 3 waitlist categories at BCV for 2 BR's, this threw me a bit as I thought they were all the same. So I was tempted to just waitlist two of the 3 booking categories; but, I think BWV is a more likely option and that would get us over closer to our group, which would be nice.

So keeping everything crossed that BCV comes through. I was surprised to hear that the 2 BR IS available the 15th (tuesday), 18th and 19th (Friday/Saturday) and only the Wed/Thurs were not available. I was tempted to book that and waitlist the 2 middle nights but didn't want to risk not getting it, and would have had to give up the consecutive nights we already have at VWL.
