Just imagine- Dawn would be so proud of all of the bickering that you guys are doing! It is her sole purpose on these thread everyday to start a "anti- Obama" but where is she now?
I hope you're not talking to me.Trust me, it takes a lot to rile me up and Lord knows I've seen enough around here to rile anyone.
It really doesn't bother me per se. I just get what a lot of people say when they ask for a separate section for political threads. I love a good healthy conversation as the next person and that's all it is, just a conversation.

No, I was talking to the OP. I'm not saying she has to leave, but sometimes when things get to me I feel I have too much invested in it and need to put space between me and what's bothering me.
I totally get what you're saying.
Coming in late, not particularly interested in this topic, BUT . . .
Fair's fair. For the last year or so, this board's been full of anti-Bush sentiment, and loads of people don't grasp what's been his fault and what hasn't -- he's been blamed for way more than his own actions. For example, people blame him for the war; does anyone remember that only Congress can declare war? While he certainly didn't do everything perfectly, he didn't cause this economic crisis; that's largely the fault of greed in the business world and over-extension of credit by foolish consumers.
Now the shoe's on the other foot. Obama's done some things right (i.e., freezing Congress' wages) and other things wrong (i.e., putting our grandchildren into hock for the rest of their lives for a supplement of questionable value today).
If you were dishing it out, it's time to take it. Plenty of people have taken political debate way beyond the facts and have made it personal.

ETA: And since the race card has been played, I should add that my not liking his policies has nothing to do with his race. Saying this is a racial thing is as crazy as saying those of you who did not support JC Watts or Alan Keyes are racists.
While race is obviously not the only deciding factor, I would bet that it is a definite factor for many people, quite a few right here on the DIS.
A perfect example would be the folks who went from being die-hard Hillary supporters to sudden conservatives. Hilllary was just as liberal as Obama, so if you could support her and suddenly become a conservative that means a) you are racist or b) you are ignorant and were voting only on the fact that Hillary was a woman, in wich case your vote was stupid and I'm glad you lost.

And calling them racists and ignorant. How nice of you to point that out to them!

Wow! Really? Maybe I should assume that there is a cure for being gay. Since we're talking about ridiculous assumptions.![]()
By the way it sounds like you are referring to certain posters here. And calling them racists and ignorant. How nice of you to point that out to them!

For the record, I went from from being totally crunchy liberal to a foot over the line conservative. It had nothing to do with race or being ignorant. It was most of the liberals, and statements like this, that helped push me over completely to the right.![]()
Thanks! It's so much better on the other side.![]()

I have to disagree there. I think it's just too easy for people to go low brow and use the whole BO thing as a dig. I don't think it has anything to do with easier typing. It's very "high school" to me. I don't mind when people state their opinions, that's what this country is all about. I just think it diminishes ones opinion when it starts off with "BO this" or "Dubya that".....
Like I said I looked back to the beginning of Bush Jr's time in office and I didn't find this level of rhetoric.
Well, I can see changing from one side to the other-I know quite a few people that went from R's to D's in the last election-but it sure wasn't people on an internet board that sent them over! For some it was the growing influence of the religious right in the R party, for some it was the last administration and for others it was a nagging feeling that the platform of the R party didn't speak to their personal values anymore. For those folks, it happened over a period of years, between GW Bush and Obama-not like the much publicized defection of Hillary supporters to McCain, which happened over a period of what, weeks?
. But if that's what you want to assume go right ahead. There seems to be a a lot of that going on here.

She's at WDW-but she may be on here later, she took her computer.
