Really...enough already!

I've actually been around the DIS since 2004 (long story) and as I mentioned in my OP...I acknowledge the Bush Jr bashing that has taken place...but like I said...from my research...it took some time...quite a it of time actually...for it to be anything other than...'he stole the election'...

I don't open the majority of the threads...the the titles of alone get to me to be honest.

While it is nice that you are willing to acknowledge that Bush bashing took place and it is refreshing that you are remaining neutral, You do realize that you are Bush bashing yourself right?

There is no Bush Jr. We had George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush. The father was H.W., the son W. So I guess you are referring to W as junior even though that is not his name.

The whole calling him Jr. thing is a way to try and demean him and has been used by many as a slam.

I think a lot of people are angry because the ideology that they have followed for most of their lives is not in vogue anymore. They're upset that a majority of the voters chose something different and they're still trying to convince those people that they were wrong.

For the past three plus months every time I've wandered onto the community board I've seen countless new threads demonizing President Barak Obama.

Multiple times during the day I have found new threads digging incredibly deep to find any sort of minutia to twist and lambast...attempting to take any small tidbit of information and manipulating into a lengthy diatribe how within a mere two months in office this one man has cursed our nation.

Really...? Two months...?

You know I don't care what each and every one of the DIS members political leanings are...nor do I care to know the details of your personal politics...but I do know it's incredibly insane...yes insane...to believe that any sort of policy...package...etc...that's been enacted in the brief time President Obama has been in office has had any opportunity to be deemed a success or a failure yet!

I know the GOP and all its followers are still upset they lost the election...and who can blame them? Still the level of petty threads I have found here by President Obama's detractors is just...well it's just sad...

He's teleprompter dependent?

He's snubbed the Prime Minister of England?

He's compared himself to Lincoln?

I've read the source articles on these three subjects...and I'm sorry the threads that have derived from them are really reachy!

And these were just a few examples...I could go on...but honestly...it kind of turns my stomach.

Now I know what will be said...'what about the years of Bush Jr bashing?'...and I can't argue with there being years of it...but honestly...the man was in office for eight years...he earned the complaints he garned here during his presidency!

Oh yes...and I did my homework and went back in the DIS forums as much as possible...I found virtually NOTHING back when Bush Jr was orignally elected! Sure there were a few "Bush stole the election" threads and the like...but really...that's about it. Then...as Bush Jr's terms in office mounted...and after 9/11 and things in Washington and abroad began to crumble...the anti-Bush Jr rants mounted...but only then!

In closing...really my biggest upset is just how devisive the Community board has become. All the political nagging...for lack of a better term...makes me sad. Especially when as far as I can see...the majority of it is incredibly pre-mature.

:wave2:

Actually I'm just from the south and calling someone "Jr" who is their father's namesake is just sort of a thing folks in my family grew up doing.

But if you're wanting to pick nits I won't stop you...:thumbsup2

You know it's amazing to me how many people are commenting on my OP along with follow up posts and apparently really didn't read what I've written in its entirety. :confused3

I did not write this as a "pro-Obama" thread. He just happens to be the man in office at the moment.

I have countless time addressed the "last eight years" debate.

Please...if you're going to take the time to respond to something here...no matter who's post it is...PLEASE take the time to actually ready it first!:rolleyes1

Uh, okay. Did you write one of these threads during the 8 years GWB was being bashed endlessly?

NEW RULE

I agree, some of the threads are strange. but after skimming a large number of them, I am of the belief that they are pinging on him because they are simply prejudice against a black President, but since it is NOT P.C. to use racist terms, they find the minutiae of his life and take it to the maximum level of ridicule they can manufacture out of it.

A level headed person would agree that a few months in ANY job making high level decisions will not immediately fix problems, let alone the magnitude of the one the President of the United States has to accomplish.

Let me sum up, they are racist, and are hiding it behind other issues. in my opinion.

RUM?

So because I didn't vote for Obama and b/c I don't like him it's because I'm racist? Really? Wow, I'm offended. If Obama was white I still would not have voted for him. If he was white I still wouldn't like him. I don't like his policies and I don't like what he's doing. It has nothing to do with race but thanks saying that all those who don't like him are racist.

I don't like his politics, not because he's bi-racial - I don't care if he is purple with pink polka dots - his political/social beliefs are downright scary.

That said, some of the threads are a reach - when the title/first few lines seems so ridiculuous - I don't open it. Rabid anti-Obama posters will post some things that I just won't take the time to read.

On the same token, IMO his supporters are SO pro Obama, they don't see anything wrong with things that reasonable people should.

He is not perfect - and does seem to be either blindly followed, or blanket-y condemned, depending on which side the poster is on.

I agree with you tinatark.

I just didn't want people to think that you were referring to Jeb Bush Jr., as I don't think that he did anything to deserve being bashed. His father maybe but Jr. not so much.

What it boils down to is that the losers just love sour grapes. No matter what Obama does, they will complain. Their frivolous complaints just make them look ridiculous. It's just another day on the CB. :flower3:

What I just learned in 2 minutes of reading is that I am racist because I don't want trillions of dollars in debt passed onto my kids. I am racist because I don't want human embryos used for scientific experiments. I am racist because i don't like congressional earmarks. I am racist because I don't want caskets of our dead military personnel shown for public display. I am racist because I don't think a tax cheat should be leading our treasury department.

What I do know is that the majority of the voters in this country elected Barack Obama in November. He is our president, and as much as I disagree with his policies, it will be that way for 4 years. I also know that I have the right to disagree publicly, and by these boards, I know I am not alone.

After being hoodwinked by the MSM, as well as Acorn and their like stuffing the ballot box, Hillary having the election literally stolen from her with the help of the aforementioned, and only by a few percentage points. The guy has proven in a very short amount of time many of the reasons why those of us who didn't vote for him did not. BOs supporters can call me bitter all they want, facts are facts, and the world is finally seeing what the man really is and what he really stands for.

No I didn't...as I said (again if you had read my OP you'd know this already) I've been watching these threads for a long time and these feelings have been festering up until I wrote finally. :)

I don't care for Obama's politics. I'm not racist and I'm not Republican. I don't post often on the political threads because they get my blood pressure up too high. There have been a huge number of threads about how much people hate Obama (let's face it, there's a lot of amunition right now). In addition, there have been fawning nauseating posts about how wonderful he is as well. Different strokes for different folks.

That being said, I find many of the posts in this thread insulting. I have a right to my opinion and I will NOT allow the bully culture to strip me of those opinions. I will not let the media tell me that if I disagree I am small minded. I will not allow posters to tell me I am somehow bitter about the election and too immature to let it go and "give Obama a chance". The man has, in the short period he's been in office, managed to bankrupt my children, threaten my livelihood and make outrageously stupid foreign policy statements. That is my opinion....don't like it? Too bad.

:thumbsup2 Why do we all have to "give Obama a chance" when no one gave Bush one? Why was the Bush bashing okay but Obama bashing isn't?

...and all this has been revealed in less than three months?

I found that diffcult to believe no matter who's in the White House.

People gave Fmr Pres. Bush a chance and it shows in the poll numbers. His approval rating at this point in his administration was higher than Pres. Obama's is now. It took time for people to become dissatisfied with him. Yes, it got ugly towards the end, but to say that he received the same treatment 8 years ago is a little tough for me to believe given the poll numbers. After 9/11, he was polling in the 90's-so people definitely gave him a chance.

Why not? He promises to fix this country, lickity split, but then changed his tune once he actually got into office..."It will take longer than one term to fix this nation"...Nope, sorry, that's not what he campaigned on.

Did you ever think that maybe the Conservatives were sick and tired of the way Bush got treated? I, for one, was tired of it. All we hear now is "Respect the office of the President"...where was that respect when Bush was there?

For years, we heard the Bush bashing. Well, now he's done and your guy is up....and he isn't doing so hot. :rolleyes1

Marxist? Give me a break. He's proposing going back to the tax rates under Clinton (I guess Clinton was a commie too), which were lower than those when Nixon was President (I guess Nixon was a commie too).

I think someone needs to take the time to define the term Marxism to our conservative friends.

It's beyond ridiculous that conservatives are throwing out McCarthy era insults to the liberals. What next, are they going to accuse of us petting with our boyfriends in the backseat of our jalopy?

Me too. I call both of my sons Jr, even though neither of them are technically.

I agree OP- but I don't see how this is any different than the multitude of Bush bashing, or Clinton Bashing, or Carter bashing or Reagan bashing.... (etc) threads there have been. People get riled up about politics, Obama is the big cheese now, he's gonna be in the hot seat, that's just the way it is.

:thumbsup2 Obama chose to take a role where his every move will be scrutinized and analyzed and criticized. I think the problem is that the OS think that he is SOOOO wonderful that they cannot possibly imagine how everyone doesn't feel the same way about him. That is why they decide that we must be racists. They can't wrap their minds around the fact that some people think that his ideals and policies are completely reprehensible to us.

Thank goodness for free speech! I am so thrilled that I have people on the DIS that I can identify with and who give me hope that there are people who aren't falling for the "Obama Way". I find it very comforting and it will help me to survive the next 4 years.

Honestly, I don't understand why people can't ignore threads that don't interest them. I find so many of the threads on the CB to be of no interest to me, so I just ignore them. It really isn't that difficult. :confused3

But it is NOT true that people didn't give Fmr Pres Bush a chance, is it?

So basically, all this carrying on about Pres Obama now is payback?? If you didn't like what was done to "your" guy, then why do it to someone else? Wouldn't you want to be seen as better than those who did that to Bush?

And I happen to think President Obama is doing just fine. :cool1:

Now I don't generally open or post on the threads about this stuff, that said, I wonder how many of us are out there and keeping our mouths shut in an effort to promote the peace. But our minds are active.

ITA :thumbsup2

I felt that needed to be said again.

And my opinion has changed towards certain posters here.
