really confused and need help as we need to book ASAP!

We are looking at going August 22-30. We were thinking that we may buy AP as we will probably be returning May of next year. Then maybe again at the beginning of August. My question is this kinda of a two part lol.

We had booked for a trip that we were supposed to go on in August had to cancel but got our magic bands. We then found a way to go. So if we buy APs can we just use those magic bands and link them some how?
I ask this because searching for threads about this topic I found one that said once they are activated you get sent a box with bands and a discount card. Could be wrong.

Second question If we decide to book a room are we able to make Fast pass reservations at all?

Any magic band can be linked to your MDE account. You would have check in services or guest relations link the bands to your MDE. You link passes to MDE, and then magic band to MDE. It's not the magic band that's the focal point; it's the MDE account.

Once you link passes to MDE, you can book FP+ whether you book a room or not. APs can book for 7 days, or for length of stay, but length of stay isn't necessary. You are already in the 30 day window.

Buy AP, pick up at will call, and use your confirmation number to link to MDE, and you should be set.

If you are sure you are going to buy an AP you should call Disney and see what the passholder rates are for your dates. You may get a RO reservation that is cheaper than the current promotion. We did that in the spring. You have to show your AP at check in, you don't have to have it when you book. Good Luck! We have loved having the AP! We adore our TIW card and like the 10% discount at the stores.

Confirmation number links passes to MDE. Pick up passes at Will Call and passes don't start until first use in Aug. but, with linked passes, you can book fast passes for mid-Aug.

Then, link the magic bands when you get there (you can do that at Will Call when you pick up tickets).
