My son performed in the Candlelight Processional last night. (No pay but they gave him two one-day Park passes that expire late 2008. :cool1: ) We only needed one night and got a good deal at ASMU, my very least favorite resort.
Well, it WAS my least favorite but not anymore.

Our room was really nice - totally redone and modern and pretty. We just loved it and hated to leave to go to the parks. We checked in early about one or so and received excellent service. A towel Mickey greeted us in our room (4545) and everything was in good working order and was spotless. :thumbsup2

We left for MGM about 2:15 to make the parade and, unfortunately, had a very long wait. Three MK buses came and went while we waited so I'm sure if you asked one of the people heading to MK about the bus service they would have had a much more positive review than I. We caught the boat to Epcot after the parade with no wait, did some rides, watched my son in the show (beautiful) then watched Holiday Illuminations, which was also beautiful. Bus service leaving the park was excellent. We had no wait at all. :woohoo:

The beds were comfy and we heard no noise, though I had insomnia anyway. :surfweb: My husband was in a huge rush to leave this morning so he could go to work but he walked over to the food court for coffee. :coffee: I asked him if it was busy and he said they were barely open for business. :confused3 He had to hunt down a cashier and was told they don't start serving hot food until 7:00 am.

Btw, we noticed that there were games (trivia?) going on at the pool and read they have movies out there every evening. To all who are preparing to visit ASMU, lucky you, you're going to have a lot of fun.

Thanks for the review. We'll be checking in to a Family Suite on New Year's Day!

Thanks for the great review. We're doing our first Value and decided on POP but will likely do Music for the next trip. We had a hard time deciding!

We stayed at ASMu this past April in the Jazz building. All of the rooms were redone and the beds were comfortable. My brother and his family had a suite, they are great. No guarantee on the towel animals though. My brother's family received a new one each day. One night when they got back, there was an entire family of towel animals on the couch facing the tv. The tv was turned on and one of the animals had his paw on the controller. It was a riot.

Having said that, we didn't get a towel animal in our room once. So I guess it's a toss up on the staff that works on your room.

Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay at ASMu. On another topic, how did Disney select your son's school for the Candlelight Processional?

My son performed in the Candlelight Processional last night.

Forget about ASMU. I want to focus on your son! What a great thing to do. I've seen CP about 10 times in the last few years and always love it. The amateur performers like your son, make it a great experience. Thank him for me. :thumbsup2

1) All Disney resorts have good points and bad points.
2) But, for the most part they all are pretty good.
3) It all comes down to personal taste.
4) I guess that is why they are all different.
5) I don't have a problem recommending any of the Disney hotels.

Thanks for the up-date on ASMu - we're going there in January after a "not so magical" time at POP in September. We're hoping for a quieter and more laid back time with a more "controlled" crowd than at POP.

Congrats to your son for performing in CP - I got to do that in 1972 when it was still done in the MK - I'll never forget getting to go through Cinderella's Castle and down Main Street before lining up in front of the train station to perform. It was truely magical!! :santa:

Yeah, we're sure proud of Kevin. Dingoballs, I asked him how he was picked for the show and he said his school's chorus had performed at Disney before. His music teacher asked Disney if they would like to use the small group of music students that were in the two shows last night, as they said yes. :yay:

Btw, he thought the whole process was neat. They met in some building behind Italy and dressed them in collars and robes. Disney arranged them according to height then had the person at the end of the row wear one glove so they'd know exactly where their row ended. Then they sprayed the kids down with something to control persperation :scared1: and told them very sternly that once they left the building they were considered part of the show, to hold their candles still and be pros. :cool2: He loved it!

It's great to hear from others who've been in the show, too.

I'm glad you had a good stay at ASMU. My bf and I stayed at ASMU 12/7-12/14 and did not like it at all. The sink in our room was horrible as it dispensed only lukewarm water. The door didn't immediately lock as you walked out the door. You had to turn the handle. That may seem like a petty thing, and it would be, except it seemed that ours was the only one like that. I resquested no mousekeeper come after I learned that because I didn't want them to accidently leave the door unlocked.

There was also WAY too many kids for us. Don't get me wrong - I expected a ton of kids. I just didn't realize how much a hotel could impact our trip. We stayed at POFQ last year and LOVED it. We had a great trip. This time....we had an awesome trip, but the whole Disney feel wasn't completely there.

We would definitely save more money next time for a moderate or value resort.

My parents stayed from Dec 8th to the 17th and enjoyed it. They are VERY picky, so I was surprised. They stayed in Broadway. They where irked that their hotel was so far away from parking. They are in their 60s and have health problems, the CM told them it was a short walk. Luckily a group of nice young men came by and carried my parents luggage and such to their room!
