I am struggling to make a decision between the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress and Hilton at Walt Disney World. I can get either at the same price, and a really good price at that! But im torn between the hiltons walking distance to downtown disney factor, and the fantastic look of the Hyatt.

My problem is, Im going with 2 friends, and none of us can drive :( The fact that we can walk to downtown disney from the Hilton is a massive plus, But for some reason, i cant seem to warm up to the idea of staying there. Ive looked at a few reviews which havent been very positive.

Can anyone help me out? We've been to neither before so we have no preference or evidence to help us decide. The main focus would be, is there any transport to downtown disney from the Hyatt, and how far away is it? Would a taxi be an option, and if so, how much would you say it would cost? We intend to visit the parks daily, so we'll be out and about quite a bit, so we dont want to be forking out too much on taxi's.

Personally, I think a nice hotel is very important on my vacation, I know others will say that its just a base to sleep at, and wont be used much, so go for the cheap option, But, being as we're staying for 18 nights, we really want somewhere nice!

Which would you say is more appropriate for our needs?

If I was without car. I would with the Hilton DD because they have transportation for free and be to walk to Downtown Disney. I thin the taxi charges could outrages.

Are you all 3 sharing one room?

What are your dates? Or approximate dates? It may be that your time frame falls into a free dining period for a Disney resort, or a room discount (or both, as with the free dining you have to buy a ticket, and you can't have an 18 night reservation, so you'd have to have two reservations).

If I were staying that long with two other people (adults), I'd really look into the Doubletree Guest Suites then. It's in Downtown Disney area - at the other end (walking distance to the Crossroads shopping center, where there is a grocery store, although it's overpriced if it's even still there, and some reasonable priced restaurants). You'd have a suite, plus a fridge and microwave (I don't know about the Hilton having a fridge).

The Hyatt Grand Cypress is far superior to the Downtown Disney Hilton.

I've stayed at that Hyatt a few times and it's massive. I can't tell you how nice it is. I didn't believe it until I saw it. And tons of stuff to do all day. Really the best hotel I've ever even seen at the price you can get it at.

Now, as for your question...I know for a fact that they claim the "resort fee" (included in room fee) covers a shuttle to Disney but I haven't actually used it because we had a car so I don't know if it only runs at peak times or even at all. You should call and ask them about it though because it is a bit of a distance and a taxi could be expensive.
