Hey everyone,

I haven't logged in since August because I'm trying to keep my mind off of it.
I have to ask. Does anyone get really, I mean really, bummed out when they can't return to the world in years? My last trip was just "last year" (April of 07), but it feels like it has been years since our visit. We won't be going back in 09 either because of finances. I've gone more than most, and less than some. I feel grateful for the number of visits I've had there, but at the same time, I think its the number of visits that is contributing to my withdrawals.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Craig

If it makes you feel any better, I went in October and I hadn't been there for (at least) 10 years prior. And you know what, it was great!. It felt like I was going again for the first time, and I was able to REALLY appreciate it. Oddly enough, it made the 10 year hiatus worth it.

Cheer up! Mickey doesn't get grey hair. You'll make it back some day. :thumbsup2

Wow, you ain't logged in since August coz ya can't go to WDW?

I kinda see loggin' on to the DIS as a way to be at Disney when ya can't be there.
I like to read the Resorts 'n Parks 'n other various threads.
I guess it all depends on how ya look at it. ;)

I hope ya feel better soon.

Me too! I do feel bummed out because we aren't going back till 2010, but I have the dissers to live vicariously through in the meantime.

That's a good way to look at it All American. I try to keep that in mind when we are able to go.

Everyone else,

I know, it's strange. I've been a DISer for years, and it has always helped to share knowledge, stories, etc. As of late though, I felt myself envious of everyone's stories and excitement for their impending trips. It then really made me feel worse after, so I took a break.

Thanks to all for your well-wishes. In reality, I know it's nothing. My wife and children are healthy, and that's all I can truly ask for.

Thanks again,

Craig

I took several years off of the DIS. We are going for the first time in six years.

Don't feel bad. We went back in July and we had not been to WDW in almost 6 1/2 years. Part of that was because although I LOVE WDW, my husband is not such a big fan. And then we had DS, so it was kind of hard to go. But this past summer we were able to take him for his first visit and it made it worth the six year plus wait. :)

DH is even talking about booking a trip for next summer, if we can swing it because the deals are so good right now.:thumbsup2 I know DS can't wait to go back because he had such a blast.:rotfl: That's all he talks about sometimes. :)

The last time I went to WDW was in 2001. I can't go until 2010. I am bummed too, but I do like to hear the stories of others that go. I get my disney fix right here.

Same here. We tried to go a couple of times however we have had tough times, then moved to save DH's job and then now we have moved back to MO save his job.

On top of the economy, moving, debt we are trying to pay off, my dd will be going to college in the Fall....unless something great happens, we won't be vacationing anywhere at all in any near future.:guilty:

We have a 2yr plan of serious debt reduction but that will string out if the economy is still bad.

Mystery Machine,

That's rough having to move back and forth. We actually were ready to move out of state a month ago to give us some breathing room, but we can no longer make enough money on our home. I feel bad for you having a kid ready to go into college, that must be tough.

We are kind of on the opposite end of the spectrum. My job pays ok, but my wife didn't make a lot of money before we had our kids. Having her go back to work, just to pay enough money for day care seemed foolish. No offense meant to anyone with their children in day care. It didn't make sense for use to have her work, only to pay someone watch our kids.

My wife works part time, so hopefully by this time next year she will be able to line up more consistent work to help out. The sacrifices we make for our kids :-)

I haven't been there in 4 years and have no idea when my next trip will be, if ever. :(

Haven't been since Dec 2005 & I'm totally fine with it. 6 trips to WDW in 9 years is plenty. (9 trips to WDW in adult lifetime.)

I'm vacationing other places now for a while and its GREAT!!!

I'm "really bummed out" whenever I'm not there. The minute I leave, I crave more. That's probably why I'm planning to move there. That along with the fact I just get WAY too cold these days.

We're going for Christmas week this year. :santa: Woo hoo!!
:cool1:

You know, it is OK. We started out rough but we are fine. DH will still be paying his student loans while we have a dd in college. How surreal is that?

Debt reduction is key for us. We have a good plan as long as dh keeps his job. So far so good.
So think positive. Good things will happen.

DH's brother works for DHL and is going to be losing his job in the depressed St. Louis economy. So we count our blessings.

Yeah, that stinks. That's the way we're feeling.

SplshMtn99,

Although I miss WDW a lot, traveling to other places would certainly help ease the desire.
The problem for us is that we don't have the finances to travel to WDW, or anywhere else.
The "world" just happens to be at the top of the list.

Congrats on your 20 year old cat. Wow:thumbsup2

When I don't have a trip in the works, I tend to only read the Community Board. I will admit to getting envious when I read Trip Reports, Attractions and Strategies, Resorts, etc. so I stay away.

For me, thoughI don't generally feel the "itch" to go to Disney until about 2 years has passed since the last one. So it doesn't bother me too much.

You'll be back soon!

That's not a bad idea SDFgirl. Community board it will be til I get the itch (so to speak:rotfl2:) back. Thanks for the idea!

Our last trip was May 2006 and it was a great trip--hubby took his parents and brother. We had annual passes and planned to go back that September. But life happened.... Hubby's dad passed away suddenly and we canceled the trip. We planned to go December 2007, but our little dog needed emergency surgery--so we canceled. Our little dog was too sick for us to travel this year and our vet bills were quite large (she passed away in September). Now hubby's company is going through a merger and nobody is certain if their jobs will remain. No Disney for us for a very long time.

But it is OK. Disney is my happy place. I can go to Disney anytime in my mind. And, best of all--no ticket required!

Please don't be a stranger. I get a little twinge of sadness on the parks and resorts boards, so I hang here on the Community Board and the Budget Board. But, I can also be excited for the folks who do get to go.
