Really booked up or just partially closed?

During slower times when(Disney) hotels claim to be full are they actually "full" or is it that they have closed portions of the hotel?

Are you meaning that when you called there was no availability? Sometimes there is no availability with a certian discount, but if willing to pay rack rate, there will be a room. I know they had PO-FQ closed for the longest time because they were in a slump (one way to put it). They claimed the closed it for renovations but they didn't start the renovations up as soon as they closed it. Pop Century still hasn't been completed either...so I would suppose they can close down a portion of the resort to save on the salary expense.

When we checked into All-Star Music on September 22, 2001 (yes, shortly after 9/11), I asked about occupancy - they told me that they were very close to 100% full..... I found that hard to believe.

In talking to some fellow ASMu guests on the bus rides, it turns out that 5 of the 10 buildings were closed - but the remaining 5 were very full, so yes, they were very close to 100% of the currently available capacity.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.....

At certain times of the year they take some rooms out of inventory for rehabs, but they don't close good rooms unless as stated there is a time of less travel such after 9-11 etc. But they would have willingly booked them then.

Park attendance does not reflect hotel occupancy and many times when the parks are slower Disney resorts are full with large groups, etc.
