Realistically what can I do at Universal?

So I keep reading on the Disney side of the boards about "Pooh" sized people having issues with ride harnesses/safety gear at Universal. I am 5'6"; 26/28 clothes

Looks like I will be chaperoning a trip next month (was just asked last night) so now I am thinking. What is even worth the attempt to ride? MIB, Minions, Simpsons - I would think I could but just want to know what I am up against.

Any help would be appreciated!

do a search on the threads at the darkside forums for what others have said in sharing their experiences on ride issues due to size.

you'll find some rides are better suited than others based on what posters have said.

Thanks - I thought I did a quick search, will look again.

when you asked, i remembered one thread that had a few pages on it where peep stated their weight, size and how they fit in certain rides.
sometimes it makes it easier to plan ahead when you can compare your dimensions to someone else that has stated what rides were good for them.

anything with over the shoulder harness i remember was an issue for those very full in that area.
stomach area was a problem for a few that had more of the girth there but don't remember size they wore.

one thread talked about clothing size as a comparison of how they fit in some rides.

do check back over last summers threads as the rides have not changed and the info would still be valid.

some peeps once they get the info, move on and don't come back to say more in the thread.
that is why i suggest you search for the threads as i learned a lot about what others experienced.

do post here if you need help in finding past threads.
not everyone will keep repeating their situation so i don't want you to miss out on getting info you need in advance.

one thing i would do is sit in the seat outside of the ride and have a friend take a picture of me.
this way i would know before getting into the line if i would fit and anyone around that outside seat would think it was a photo time for me and not a "will i fit" moment

Thanks for the info - I did a quick visual search and didn't see any, but then when you use the tools :rolleyes1 I was able to find the ones you referenced.

As I have been Pooh sized and now am a smaller version, here goes:

At USF, you should be able to ride Despicable Me, Twister, Mummy (maybe - check seat first outside), Disaster, Men In Black, ET with no problems. Challenges will be on Gringotts (probably not as I barely fit an am a size 20), Rockit (nope - dont even try).

At IOA, you should be able to ride Spiderman, Bluto's (you will have to take up two seats to make the seatbelt fit), Jurassic Park, Cat in the Hat. Challenges will be all other rides including all coasters. Check the seats outside but this park will be a challenge no matter what.

Of course, everything that is a show is available for you to go to without any problem.

If you have to wait for the people you are chaperoning, go thru the line with them and wait in the Child Swap area (this way you have a chance to relax for a few in the air conditioning.)

Hope that helps.

Simpsons is a bench with no restraints if I'm remembering correctly???? Haven't been on since the first time as it really makes me sick!

Simpsons is not a bench. It is a small attraction vehicle with a screen in front of it. I don't remember the lap restraint so it might be a possibility. The one with the non moving bench is Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.

I don't remember it having individual seats but again, haven't ridden since the first time!

i ride the simpsons multiple times when i am in the park.
have no idea why i am drawing a blank on if it is a bar across the rows ...

thought there was something like that as i do remember grasping something while on that ride...

wait, maybe i'm grabbing the hand of the stranger next to me.........lol....

I THINK I vaguely remember a shared lapbar across the whole row on Simpsons. I rode it in May, but it was such a non-event that I don't recall completely. I remember noticing how tiny the other people on my row were - and that might have been because my tummy was the bar-stopper. I looked for Goggled pictures but couldn't make out the specifics.

You're right. I rode yesterday, and the ride uses a shared lapbar covering all riders in that row. It doesn't seem to scrunch me as much as it did on past visits; I think they might have made some adjustments in that respect. Either that or I lost weight, and I know that didn't happen. :rolleyes2

Also, at the risk of off-topicness, it seemed like the brightness of the presentation was significantly lower than before. Maybe I just had a bad angle or something of that sort.
