So did anyone have Disney user Silk flowers instead of real ones? If so do you remember the cost differences? I saw some brides make their on decorations and wands with Silk flowers, and paired with the real ones from Disney, but I was curious as to what Disney would do for you.

Thanks!

We're not having a Disney wedding, but a local Committment Ceremony. My thoughts are this. I'd rather have real. They LOOK nicer & smell better. As for, "But you can KEEP the silk ones"...what are you really going to do with them? I've been in weddings w/ silk flowers, and I never kept them. They look fake and I personally wouldn't put them on display in my home. Just a thought. ;)

I haven't yet, but I've been told there isn't much of a difference because of the qualitly of silk they use. We're having the Bridal pieces made from silk. Mainly because I want all the roses to be the same color and then I can make my own shadowbox without having to try to learn to preserve my own flowers.

The rest of our floral will be real. Mostly carnations because I don't know many other fowers that come in a bunch of colors. I may see if I can add some plain daisies.

I may be wrong on this but Orangetiggs had silk flowers - I think!

Maybe check out her PJ as she might mention it.

Personally I'm going with real flowers. I know they cost a fortune but I just love them. I am considering getting a silk flower replica of my bouquet from Disney but I keep changing my mind about it!

Thanks for the info, I can see plus and minuses to both Real and Silk flowers, no real decisions have been made, so I am looking to see what others thought about each. :goodvibes

Silk flowers can be as much as or more than real flowers - I think the main attraction is the ability to keep them, rather than to save money. From the experiences I've read on these boards, people have had varying experiences with getting silks through Disney. If you're going for flowers in shades that can be found in nature you may have better luck. I remember some purple silk roses that one bride was kind of disappointed in.

Another option is to buy your own - I've seen "real touch" artificial flowers that were a dead-ringer for the real thing!

I used silk flowers, and I loved them!

I originally was going to go with a fresh bouquet, but I decided to go with silk for three main reasons:

- I got married at the end of July, and it was very hot! I didn't want to have to worry about keeping my flowers fresh looking for the whole day
- I did want to be able to keep the bouquet and not pay the high prices for preservation (I had also heard that they take your bouquet away from you fairly quickly if you're going for preservation, and I wanted to keep it with me throughout the whole day!)
- our MK photoshoot was three days after the wedding, and I definitely would have needed a refreshed bouquet for that shoot

The price in silk was more than fresh, but when I added in the cost of a refreshed bouquet, the prices were very close. So, the idea of being able to keep it forever and not having to worry about how it lastest throughout the day pushed me to choose silk.

My floral coordinator was amazing. She emailed me pictures of different flowers as she hunted down just the right silks. She worked very hard to find silk flowers that were the right colours, and that looked real!

While I was waiting to leave for our DP from the AKL, I had numerous people come up to me to compliment my bouquet, and they couldn't believe it was fake. One lady even put her hand over the whole thing because she didn't believe me!

Here is the picture I gave my floral coordinator:

Here is what I got:

(There are pearls, crystals and Hidden Mickeys in my version...;))

I hope that helps!! :goodvibes

Your flowers are beautiful!

I'm probably going to go with silk, that way if I do decide to bring them home I can :goodvibes

The floral decorations will possibly be real though. :confused3

I am going with silk for my December wedding for just me and my bridesmaids, but real for everything else too. I am doing rose wands for all of us and I want to keep them forever! I also want to display them at our at-home reception, and I thought it would be neat for my jr bridesmaid and flower girl to be able to keep them. Here is a discription of our rose wands, and the costs:

Bride: SILK rose wand made with 5 white roses. Wrap the stem of the wand in white satin ribbon, and criss cross over the white with 333 Bluebird sheer ribbon. Surround the head of the rose with the Bluebird sheer ribbon. Mist the wand lightly with silver pixie dust. Add 4 Mickey Swarovski crystals in the wand $95 for wand plus $3 for each mickey, total $107

Bridesmaids: SILK rose wand made with 3 white roses. Wrap the stem of the wand in 365 Light Navy satin ribbon, and criss cross over the satin with 333 Bluebird sheer ribbon. Surround the head of the rose with the Bluebird sheer ribbon. Mist the wand lightly with silver pixie dust. $75 each

Junior Bridesmaids: SILK rose wand made with 1 white rose. Wrap the stem of the wand in 365 Light Navy satin ribbon, and criss cross over the satin with 333 Bluebird sheer ribbon. Surround the head of the rose with the Bluebird sheer ribbon. Mist the wand lightly with silver pixie dust. (Like a mini version of the bridesmaids) $55

Flower Girl: SILK rose wand made with 1 white rose. Wrap the stem of the wand in white satin ribbon, and criss cross over the white with 333 Bluebird sheer ribbon. Surround the head of the rose with the Bluebird sheer ribbon. Mist the wand lightly with silverpixie dust. (Like a mini version of mine) $55
