for someone who is a total chicken when it comes to rides (esp. roller coasters/extreme "drop" rides)? I remember one of these was a little rough, but I don't think either has any serious drops, loops, etc. - is that correct? TIA!

POTC has two very small drops, but not scary. They are both near the beginning of the ride, so you get it out of the way and can enjoy the rest of the ride with that behind you. :)

Indy has no drops, but it jerks you around a bit. Some of the scenes are intense (skeletons, fire, giant snake, boulder rolling at you), but I don't know if that bothers you. It's not a roller coaster type ride. My family loves this ride. DS9 went on it for the first time when he was 5 or 6 and couldn't wait to ride again.

My son HATES scary rides, and while he wasn't too fond of Indy the first time or two... he was begging to ride it again and again and again back in January. (7 years old). Explain that the rats/spiders are projections, it will probably go far in easing a kid that might be apprehensive.

Pirates is his hands down favorite ride, the drops aren't too intimidating because it's dark. The 'scariest' thing to my son was the projection of Davy Jones. To quote, he says... "That's FREAKY!"

If you know the drops are coming POTC is not scary at all.

When I went for the first time my friends thought it was funny to tell me that the ride had no drops. I am a ride chicken myself.

So they're like "look, the boats don't even have rails that close." I trust them (hey, the rides don't have to be the same at all parks, right?), on we go, and suddenly there's the first drop.

I was more surprised than scared, but still... if someone saw a blonde girl and a dark haired girl fleeing from a Pooh sized person wielding a lightsabre on New Orleans Square on November 7, 2006 around 11 AM... I was the one with the sabre. :rotfl:

POTC are the kinds of drops that make you start to love drops!!! Very fun, very mild.

Indy is intense. However, DH, who hates coasters, loves it. It does jerk you around a bit. It is better if you can relax in the seat and not hold on.

POTC isn't scary at all (unless skeletons freak you out...lots o' skeletons in that ride!); as others have said, the drops are small & at the beginning of the ride.

The Indiana Jones ride can be scary, but mainly because of the things that jump out at/come towards you (a giant snake, skeletons, the "rolling boulder" at the end). The ride is pretty jerky, but less so than the Matterhorn & slightly more so than Big Thunder Mountain. It's mainly the atmosphere that some people find frightening, not the ride itsself.

Depends on your version of scary. My 10 year old grandson is terrified of POTC and not because of the drops, he loves screamin'. It is scary for a young kid. I love it though.

I hate roller coasters and drop type rides, but absolutely love POTC and Indiana Jones. Like others have stated, the drops on POTC are small and not scary at all.

I agree with Nana, it all depends on the person and what they think is scarey. My DD6 couldn't get enough of Splash Mtn or GRR, and she did OK on Matterhorn, but did not like, well actually hated, both Indy and POTC. There was absolutely no way she would even consider trying either again. She barely made it through Haunted Mansion, but after we got home she was like if we go back we'll go back on HM. So go figure. Everybody is different.

Indy is a VERY intense ride. I had a panic attack on it and had left my Xanax in the hotel room... that was a fun experience. :(

Thanks everyone! We did end up taking our 2-year old with us after consulting with you guys & a few cast members (just to be sure) ;) I am fine with things jumping out at me...I don't like rides that make you feel like you can't breathe or anything that has to do with heights. I almost lost it when we went on the ferris wheel, DH had to come sit with me..then of course later when I calmed down he started to rock our "non-swinging" gondola! :scared1: We have yet to ride Indy, but hopefully I don't pee my pants with that one! I think I remember the being jerked around, but in my memory I always thought it had drops. Off to get a couple of hours of sleep before I have to wake up & do it all over again! :lmao:

You'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Really, it's only a few gags mixed with some jolts of your vehicle. :hippie:

If you were able to do Mickey's Wheel of Terror :scared1: , then you'll be able to go on the Indiana Jones ride just fine! :thumbsup2
