Real or Fake????

I'm very much a believer in fake trees. It's so sad to see the real trees discarded in the trash after Christmas. What a waste! If you must have pine scent, there are some great candles out there. We got our artificial tree the day after Christmas (50% off of course) 10 years ago, and it's still in great shape.

Real trees in our house until my kids are grown, then probably a fake tree. We very much enjoy the tradition of picking our tree together.

I just found this thread and have to jump in and say please change "South" to "Florida"! North Carolina is in the South and is also one of the biggest Christmas tree growing states in the country. My parents' next-door neighbors have done the White House tree and this year's White House tree was from another North Carolina tree farm.

We have live North Carolina-grown trees ALWAYS, but I'll admit I've heard the stories about how much they cost in Florida and have seen trees being cut in early November.

artificial trees!! I got tired of trying to get all the needles vaccumed out of the carpet and still finding them months later, usually stuck in my foot.

We found a nice full 6 foot tree about 7 years ago. The branches fold up for storage. But when they are all down it is a wonderful tree!! It is always mistaken for a real tree.

My secret for scent is one of those pine scented trees you hang in your car!! It works great!! I just hang it down low near the center pole and we have a pine scented tree!!

Two years ago when I got really really ill. We bought a 3 ft fiber optic tree with ornaments on it. I suggest you get a "all in one unit" type. Ours came out of the base for storage.

That was fine till we moved this year. Now we have the fiber optic tree but no base to light it. So it is sittng in a halloween bucket with a big yellow pages in it to weight it so the tree will stand up. then I wrapped tinsle around the bucket and set it on top of the entertainment center, 2 days before Christmas. It looks cute.

But if I don't find our big tree and the base to the fiber optic tree, then I'm buying a prelite small [3 or 4 ft] table size tree. Since we moved into our apt there just isn't enough room for a big tree.

Most real trees get recycled to make 'pine bark mulch' or put in places to make homes for small birds and animals.

We get a real tree, some years we cut it down at a farm, but lately we have been supporting our local fire dept. with their Chrismas tree drive, it costs a little more, but it supports them and they deliver it for free.

Real all the way...
We love going to the tree farm together and running through all of tress till we find the perfect one...It is so much fun and all part of living up north...

Just wondering what people pay for real Christmas tree around the U.S.?
I see alot of people in the south are complaining of high prices.
Here in Northeast PA, you can get a tree from $20-$40.

Just curious... :bored:

Real trees for me. I had a fake one for about 10 years, but I got tired of my tree looking EXACTLY the same every year. So, we went back to real trees, that is what I grew up with anyway.

We get our real tree from a tree farm, we can choose to chop it ourselves or buy the ones their guys chopped down for $35 for a Douglas Fir. You can find real trees cheaper at other places but I go to the tree farm to find the freshest trees because I like to put it up 3 weeks before Christmas and leave it up until after New Years.

Now, the tree looks different every year, and we still get to enjoy it for a long time.

Oh, and on Christmas Eve morning, lots of local places give real trees away for free...so if cost is an issue, people in our area can still enjoy real trees.
