Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

I would join you at the Wave before the fireworks boat, if that's in the plan.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it!

Looks like we will be makin an appearance here! Myself and schimj (husby)

:thumbsup2 Nice to be meeting you and your DH in 3D, Tiff. Glad you can make it.

Excellent!

And that makes 8 for the Wave. :cool1:

With Ed, that makes it 9 in the pontoon. The cost of doing that will average to about$39 per person plus tips for the captain. Anyone have any idea what the tip should be?

We do have space for 1 more person in the pontoon, if needed. I'm thinking it could either be Bobbi's friend or, if Ruthie is free.....

It seems that the chef at the Contemporary makes a better cake than the ones at the Grand Floridian. Does anyone have any allergies?

I asked my friend to let me know by April 15th, but in any case, if there's a definite yes by another person, that would be the one to chose.

I have been involved with about 5 "Disboard fireworks cruises" that have been successful. Only once did the person who booked fail to show up. Since we didn't pay in advance, no money lost, but we all gathered at the dock and well, we made the best of it.

It seems to me that 15% would be acceptable as a tip. Any other suggestions?

I booked an Illuminations cruise 3 years ago and can't remember if they took payment in advance or not!

I expect cash on the day will be okay.

I think it is held on the credit card, and the guests just gave the money to the person who booked on the day. We gave all the money to the "booker" who gave the tip to the captain.

I booked flights!:yay: Wednesday the 2nd to Sunday the 6th!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Yes. Going to try get us a table for 8.

  • Alison and Fran
  • Me, DH and DS
  • Bobbi
  • You and your DH

We will probably need a table for around 6 pm. Is that doable for you?

This trip is shaping up nicely! I'll have to put all these changes into my spreadsheet.

So we need to figure out paper goods and serving stuff. Our Villa has a platter and at least 2-3 serving bowls. I also have a bowl in my OL.

With our menu we have

Queso & Chips (2 bowls)
Summer Salad (bowl)
Watermelon (hopefully it comes in a plastic serving container)
Florentine Croissant wraps (Dinner Plate from Villa?)
Tri Tip (Serving platter)
Pesto Mushrooms (Dinner Plate from Villa?)
Fried Rice (bowl)
Tiffany says she can bake  so I'm assuming she will bring her dessert in a servable container.

Do we have enough protein for the non meat eaters?

We will need heavy duty paper plates, bowls (maybe, we might be able to use the ones from the studios). Forks, knives, and spoons, napkins, perhaps even paper towels. I know I tend to over think these things! :lmao: It sounds like we should have enough bowls and stuff from the Villa to cover serving at the party.

We will need some charcoal to grill the grilled stuff.

Are we ending up with at least 9 for the cookout now?

I'm fine with what we currently have but we might need to add some meat to the menu.

Alison - are you hiring a car? I think we might need a grocery run for this dinner.

Alternatively, if Ed or Tiffany are checking this thread, maybe we can sort out a shopping list for them to bring? We can work out the costs when we see them.

I would like rice, string beans, carrots and chinese cabbage (wombok); soya sauce and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) and some vegetable stock cubes for the fried rice. If we have ginger and garlic, even better.

I also looked at the pictures on Allears around the quiet pool. Seems like there is a table there we would want; near the cookout.
