Wow, lots of chat here. I'm not teaching, so more flexible, but I thought the first week in October was the week that actually began in September, so different interpretation there, but I can stay!

Kathy hopes to be able to come, Kitty, too!

Fall breaks differ, but F&W is a Huge draw, especially on weekends, so more crowds then.

How many days do we all need to overlap to make it a worthwhile trip? Is the meet the only reason for your trips? Anyone?

I'm not locked into specific dates, but lean toward the first week that is in both October and September. Since I do want a 1 bedroom, I can only book 1 weekend date due to point costs. The meets that I've had we're 1 -4 day overlaps, but these were trip where, after bookings, some DVC people found out we were there together! These were fun, but even the 4 day overlap, only had 3-4 common things, like lunch with an Imagineer, dinner at Kozzimas, and the tea at the GF, with some time together at a park. My other 2 friends were there together, and did everything together, I have never done anything like that, and don't think I could manage that. I was solo at the time, but DSis was supposed to be with me, she was ill and never made it to WDW.

I thought this would be like that, an overlap, get together barbecue or picnic, then meets to do specific things, but free or alone with own group as well. Even when I have friends with me in DVC villas, we are not together all of the time. Is this a different expectation than others have?

This trip for me is all about the DisMeet. I would like to maximise as many overlap days as possible. I proposed my dates because it would overlap with your time. I hadn't realised that Alison couldn't get there till AFTER the 1st.

I had thought that maybe I could head over to NY to see the start of the fall colours but I guess as I'm going to miss out of the full colour palette, it can wait till another trip.

If I re-jigged the plans a little, I could head over to NYC (or not at all) before Florida. I need to check with DS and DH regarding NYC. DS in particular was keen to head back there. That would delay our arrival into Florida and we could then hit UA either before or after WDW, depending on how the timings worked for everyone else.

If I did that.....

21 Sep - arrive LA
24 or 25 Sep - LA to NYC
~ 29 or 30 Sep - NYC to MCO
Hit UA between 30 Sep and around 2 Oct.
~ 2 Oct - WDW
No later than 8 Oct - MCO to Hawaii
No later than 11 Oct - head home



That would mean that we could be at WDW from 2 - 8 Oct. The timing might work better for Alison but we would need to find out how that works for Kitty. I haven't caught her on the boards yet to ask which week she was thinking about.

Most of you would have realised from my TRs that we do kinda travel and do the parks commando style. I know it isn't for everyone.

But DH and I were talking about this trip and we think we'll hit the parks early so that we don't hit the crowds. We will probably head back to the resort early'ish afternoon and then head out again at night. Of course, reality might be different....but that's what we'd like to do.

We definitely want to go to one of the water parks as well.

I'll want to do night time and rides photography; so this trip might also be more about taking pictures than the rollercoasters.

Oct points are more, so if I started on October 2nd I would leave the group on Sunday the 6th. I have DH coming afterwards & then we are having our road trip north, I can do that.

PIO there could be wonderful colors before October 1, you just don't know!

I just PM'd Bobbi but thought I'd pop on here, too. Unfortunately, I won't be going on our trip. I was offered, just recently, the official Proctor position at our school.

I will be in charge of all the school testing which takes place in Sept and Oct and in the spring of each year. With this job I can retire and still make some extra $$ by doing this.

I'm excited by this offer but I'm sad I won't be meeting you awesome DISers. But as I told Bobbi.......we all love to travel so I'm sure there will be other chances to meet you guys!!

Dates are not that big of the deal for us, I just need to know so I can get be our's started as we need to make payments. I know Alison said they needed to be there for the rents. So as soon as you all settle on dates I can book.

I'll most likely be booking a studio now, so points aren't an issue, but will keep it at 5 nights, even with 2 weekend nights if that's the way it works because I think my Dh will want to spend some time at Disney if he drives with me to Florida, & we will be staying in the Smokies for a few nights as we head home. Even if driving doesn't work out, I'll fly in for the meet.

I'm suggesting that we plan hoping franandaj can come if that works for everyone. Does starting on October 2nd work?
