Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

Okay Gamers....I'm starting to think about the Oct Dismeet. Thought it might be fun to see what people might want to do or not during the week.

Here are some of the experiences on my wishlist, in no particular order. And it is only a wishlist; it won't kill me if I don't do any of these.

1. Wishes Dessert Party
2. Fireworks Cruise - my preference would be for Wishes/MK (if it is still the show at MK when we go) as I've done an Illuminations cruise.
3. A night at Jelly Rolls.
4. A behind the scenes tour or a segway tour.
5. One character meal (preferably not a princess one, because of DS but I can always leave him behind :teeth:)
6. Placemarker - just in case I think of anything else. (There might be a few of these!)

My thoughts!
1. Yes!
2. Yes! I prefer the Wishes Cruise with music piped in over Illuminations.
3. Yes, as long as it's non.smoking! It wasn't when I was there the one time I was with DCuzs.
4. It depends. I've done a Segway, at FW, & I just can't stand as long any more. So, if it's a behind the scenes tour, it depends on which one.
5. I do like eating at the Crystal Palace. Cape May has a delicious breakfast with Donald, Minnie, maybe more. The garden Grill is fine too. Any others? They do something at the Swan or Dolphin, & I've even seen on line coupons for that one.
6.Earlier this week, my friend & I had a meal at Rose & Crown, & we stayed for Illuminations, & had the best view! Something like that would be fine. They may let you stay for illuminations if you eat in the new Mexican restaurant.

Free of charge, I love to draw a character at the animation academy! It would be nice to do one with my Disboard friends!

PS. Mickey's Backyard Barbecue anyone?

1. I can take or leave it, to be honest.
2. I would so love to do a Wishes cruise :teeth:
3. I'd go with, but probably not dance. Not much of a club person.
4. Behind the scenes, yes. Segway, I'd be unable to :(
5. Would LOVE to.

PS. Mickey's Backyard Barbecue anyone?

That would be fun! Or the Luau!

If I start culinary school when I plan to (somewhere around November or January), I might possibly be on my externship in October. I'm hoping that I'd be able to get on the Disney Culinary Program (as PIO and franandaj are well aware), but there's no guarantee. So... We'll see :teeth: If I get what I want, I might be down there for much longer than a few days :lmao:

:wizard:Hope you get your chance to do this!

And yes....we are non smokers. A non smoking environment would be mandatory. I'd love to see the duelling piano's at Jelly Rolls.

I don't remember people dancing there, but did enjoy hearing the dueling pianos. One thing that I do remember was they almost didn't let DH in, you have to be older than 21, & prove it. He didn't have his driver's license with him, & he was around 61, had white hair and a beard, think Santa!:santa: I think someone went back for it, but maybe not, he was pretty insistent.

1. Probably not (unless someone else organized it), but I can only take so much dessert
2. Definitely! I would love to do this!
3. We love Jelly Rolls, but didn't make it there on our last two trips. It is non-smoking and was as of our last visit. I remember after CA became a non-smoking state going back there and Jelly Rolls was still smoking friendly. I was astonished at how yucky my clothes smelled after a night there. I was very pleased the last time when it was smoke free.
4. For the same reason Bobbi is out on the Segway tour, Fran would be too. However the one at MK where you go into the Utilidors or the Behind the Seeds one could be fun. However, I believe I would have to push Fran in a manual wheelchair, they don't allow scooters.
5. Crystal Palace is our favorite, but I am open to suggestions
6. Don't forget our "potluck" by the pool where Dana promised to make us a cake and Bobbi was going to bring a watermelon and a knife! We can always grill something like steaks & swordfish to cover the carnivores and pesky vegetarian. I make a great summer salad.

:thumbsup2Yup, I love watermelon! (and the rest!)

Looks like Wishes Fireworks Cruise (preferably with piped music) might be the go...and Jelly Rolls.

::yes::

DH, DS and I like character meals (early breakfast). So, we might do that separately. Depending on how it goes, we did like the one at Tusker House; but I wouldn't mind getting to MK early to get some shots of the castle.

I think that with any group, family or friends, being flexible is important!

Today I had to cancel DS/DDiL and our newest DGS's visit to Disney's HHI that was going to be at the end of June into July. The 13 hour trip now looks daunting to the little family. They want to stay home and enjoy a long weekend. I was glad they told me now, of course we'll miss them, the other DS's family will be there, but Little Walter's baptism will be in the middle of July in Cape May and we'll all be there together, with other family and friends as well.

Sometimes it takes some time to settle a new baby. Hope he's thriving. There will be other trips.

Yes...DH and I will need to start thinking about where we want to go and what we want to see. DS will have 2 weeks for school vacay and I'm thinking of taking him out for an extra week; or 10 days. I'll need to talk to the school early next year and see how they feel about it.

Is it relatively easy to have your DS miss school? I admit to not taking either DS out of school for vacations when they were in school. DH only had 2-3 weeks total vacation time for much of his working life. Since he always took the week off between Christmas and NY, 2 weeks in the summer worked with school schedules, mine and the boys!

:scared1:

What, you like to sleep in?:lmao: I made us a breakfast ADR for my family at VB this morning. It's for 8:20 and DH asked me to call my DS because he thought 8:20 might be too LATE for that family!:rotfl2:
