'Real' conversations with CM's

Exactly how did Goofy ask you this when he can't talk? :confused3

Did he write it?

Yes, that's what I said in my post:

He was scribbling on the table (paper cloth) and asked us where we were from. When my DD wrote the city we live in, he wrote

January '11 - daughter and I were the last to get pictures and autographs from Tianna and Naveen. As usual they asked where we were from and said Philly. They go on about how wonderful our Thanksgiving parade was and the float they were on was a smooth ride. Naveen even said that the cheesesteak he had was the best he ever tried (had to tell him that he picked the second best place!)

A few years ago I was watching the Jammin Jungle Parade in Animal Kingdom when Pluto cam along and pushed the interpreter off the interpreter box and started interpreting the parade music. WOW I didn't know Pluto knew sign language. Out of character but really funny.

Did he write it?

I know this was not directed at me, but I'd like to add that there are many ways to communicate. One time at a character meal I teased Goofy that his tummy looked like DHs. Goofy saw my journal. He pointed to it and shrugged which was a way of asking what it was. I said "that's my journal. I write down what happens each day." He took the journal, sat down, and started writing. He handed it back to me, and I read it aloud. Dear Diary, today Goofy kissed me. It was great. Then he made me stand up and gave me a biggggg kiss. What a memory. :rotfl2::rotfl:

I always enjoy talking to castmembers, as I always am the one waiting with the little ones while everyone ride. I have met people from home, and talked with several that were in the college program. all are always very nice. The only bad one was on the disney wonder. our server complained at every meal how much she hated her job and she was going home as soon as her contract was done. So irritating!!!
a cute story- my DS was always scared of Kilamanjaro safari when he was little because the bridge "almost fell and we would have been eaten by the gators! He actually asked a cm if the bridge had been fixed and without missing a beat, the cm informed him that he had just fixed it that morning with duct tape, and assured him it would be just fine. He got an ear full from my son at the end of the ride!!!! It was all priceless!!!

Back in '09 during a Thanksgiving trip, the family was slow to rise, so I drove to AK just to ride EE. I got there just before the rope drop.....A thousand people and myself rushed to EE I immediatley got a FP and then lurked around deciding whether to wait in line or wait until my FP was good.....I decided to go the the single rider line and got in in about 20 minutes......I exited and went back to the SRL contemplating riding EE again. I still had some time to wait for my FP to kick in. The CM asked if she could help me. I told her I didn't know if I wanted to go back to the resort or ride again. She handed me a FP that was good right then. I then told her I had a FP and to 'pass it forward' to somebody else. She then said "Here, take another".....I had 2 Fps in my hand and ended up riding EE 3 times in a span of about 20 minutes....I know this probably happens a lot, but usually not to me. I was content on my way back to the resort and the family was still asleep!!!

At typhoon lagoon a year or two ago, there was hardly anyone at the park and we were literally doing the same ride over and over without any wait! the lifeguard looked kind of bored so we started talking, and ended up in a heated sports debate. Lol. sweet guy :)

Car insurance must be really high in Florida, when I was checking out of the CSR gift shop I was behind a man that asked the CM how her day was going, she was very nice and cheery and said it was great and that she was so blessed to have a job etc. She then asked him where he was from and he told her Georgia, she said, "I'm thinking of moving to Georgia because the car insurance here in Florida is killing me!" The man didn't really know what to say and then she asked me, "where are you from?" I told her,"South Carolina" and she said, "I dont know anything about the car insurance in South Carolina, but I can tell you one thing Florida is terrible"

My DH and I were having breakfast at Cape May Cafe on our last day. Minnie came over and I got up so my DH could take my picture with her. Well, the camera went wonkie and my DH panicked cause he didnt want to take up her time (since we are all grow'd up). I said relax, try again, than I said, I'm so sorry Minnie and she squeezed me, as if to say it was ok.

I liked that she didnt talk to me and still she made me feel as if everything was ok. :)

This thread made me so happy- thanks to everyone who shared! :)

About three years ago, DD (who was probably 18 at the time) was in EPCOT World Showcase and got to talking to one of the CM's at the Morocco Pavillion. Since she loves art, the CM showed her some of his drawings and she showed him some of hers. They actually exchanged cell numbers and became friends on FaceBook.

He has since returned to Morocco, and once in a while she still hears from him. However, he wasn't real impressed when she decided to major in Biblical Theology in college!

This isn't really out of character but it made my daughter's night. It was our last night in Disney and we were in line to see Sorcerer Mickey. We wait for a while and right before we got up there the CM said that this was Mickey's last autograph adn that he would be back. My DD who was 3 at the time got really upset and I told her to just wait patiently and he would be back. I didn't know that Mickey saw her get upset, but when he came back he had something behind his back. When he motioned for her to go see him and bent down on one knee and have her a yellow flower. She was over the moon. He then put it behind her ear and spent a good bit of time with her. It's been over a year ago and she still talks about that. It's just the magic of Disney :)

I had a very odd moment with Rafiki at a MNSSHP last year. I was wearing a costume I'd put together myself of Meg from the movie Hercules. Once I met Rafiki, he started giving me a huge hug, not letting go, and then got on a knee and motioned for me to sit on it. We took a picture like that together. Once we got up, he motioned for me to spin, which I did, and then made a motion up and down my body, and nodded his head in approval. It was a lot more attention than he'd paid to my friends, and was kind of uncomfortable.

I've also had moments where I've met characters, hugged them, and they just won't let go of me. While meeting Tigger once in the UK, he would not let me go throughout our whole interaction with him, with exception for the picture.

And this is precisely why I have phobias of full-costume characters. Even at Disney they can be creepy!! :sad2:

Last January I was in DHS with the family and we all had our Baltimore Ravens jerseys on because they were playing against the...eagles? That day. Well, my sister, friend, cousin and I were going on ToT multiple times and I had the score on my phone. During the last few seconds of the game the bellhop at the front gates ran over to me and asked me to give him an update. I don't know much about football, but I was reading off what it said. He was in complete and utter shock that we missed the kick in overtime. It was so amusing!
I love the CMs from ToT! Prior to that, a bell hop asked for the score.

Another time was when we were waiting in the standby line for ToT and a BTG was in the FP line, the CM asked them how many in their party and the boy muttered 7. So he counted off seven and stopped the 8th one. The 8th one tried to get through and the CM told him they said 7 so you're not in his group and the boy said he was. When he asked how many he had altogether, the boy turned around and pretty much pointed out the entire FP line. Once the right side was full and there were still BTG left in FP, he started taking standby for the left. I was next in line and I whispered to the bellhop "please don't make us go in a room with them" he shot me a look as to say "I know what you mean" and pointed us toward the left. He proceeded to let standby go in front of FP so our room wouldn't be filled with them. I considered that pixie dust! :)

I've also like to make conversations with random CMs. I was in AK and was trading with a pin board CM and there was a security guard with him. We chatted it up for a couple minutes, and talked about what it was like to work there (I mentioned that I wasn't in college) the CM told me to go to college so I wouldnt end up like him. He was interesting to talk to. It annoyed my sisters though, because they didn't want to stand around to talk to people, they wanted to do stuff! heh!

Whilst in Disneyland, we chatted up with a nice CM who was in charge of overseeing the people who were in the line for the FP for WoC (the line for FP obtained by purchasing a meal package) Well he told us jokes, and talked about how he was trying out for a part in Aladdin. Other CMs came over to join our conversation and started pointing out hidden mickeys!

Disney brings out the best in me. Im usually shy and don't feel comfortable talking to random people, but when im in Disney, im fascinated with what they have to say!

I've read through the whole thread and thankfully I haven't encountered a CM who tells me all their problems. I work in customer service and people always tell me how chipper I sound when I answer the phone. My grandmother even said it to me, I told her I get paid to be happy, which is true! Away from work im never this chipper! But I know not to bring my problems to work. :)

DH asked the CM who was gaurding the roped off area at illuminations if he got tired of constantly telling people it was roped off for a reason. The CM laughed and said 'you have no idea, I wish I had a cattle prod' That was pretty funny. He didnt mean it viscously..he was laughing. That guy was great and had the patience of a saint lol

Absolutely love all these stories, they are definitely making me smile! :)

DH and I were walking around the UK pavilion deciding where we would think Alice would be for her meet and greet, when we couldn't decide we stopped a CM to ask if he knew and apparently from the way I worded my question (can't remember the exact words now) he knew I was from Toronto, which is where he was from. Spoke with him for a while and he told us that he loved his job but that he did miss home.

2 days ago at MK we were leaving on the monorail and the guy waiting at the top noticed my disney cruise lanyard. He said "I see you like the cruise too" I had told him we were just off the fantasy and we didn't want to leave. He said he was just off the ship three weeks ago and was going back on the 21st. He said it will be his 21st disney cruise! He says he gets an awesome discount as a CM and he would keep his job at Disney for this reason if nothing else. Must be some discount!

I've had a couple of them over the courses of many trips!

-Last May we were meeting Belle and she complimented my friends necklace, asking what it was, when Victoria replied "a dungeons and dragons die" Belle broke a bit and went "oh...that's.... Nice...."

-In Sept at MNSSHP, we went to visit the Hatter, and he went to lightly tap Amy on the arm while asking her what kind of tea she liked, and accidentally smacked her really hard! He immediately broke "oh my god, Im so sorry, are you okay?!" she clearly wasnt offended, and it was rather hilarious.

When Millennium Village was up and running, there was a masked male CM wearing spandex and taking pics with the ladies and a masked female CM in a dress taking pics with the men. The male CM got down on 1 knee as if to propose and my step mom got a pic. A little while later, I am browsing a nearby kiosk and the same CM came behind me and I stepped on his foot  For some reason, they were non speaking characters but after apologizing, he gave me a rose :) Totally random and to me, out of character because he was doing basic poses with other people. Wish I knew what he looked like :flower3:
