'Real' conversations with CM's

When we were waiting in line for It's a Small World I asked the CM there if he gets sick of hearing the song or does he just block out. He didn't even look at me, he just said "I wish I could stick ice picks in my ears."

Okay, a cheerful employee :rotfl:

We met the Fairy Godmother last year. She asked us where we live. I told her Annapolis, MD. She then said, "Oh it is really nice there. I have a sister that lives there!" :rotfl2:

One day, DBF and I were going on Tower of Terror. When in line, we were the first to get loaded onto the next elevator. The CM walked right up to me, inches away from my face, and asked "How many are checking in?" I said "Just two," and he told us where to stand.

I decided to take a photo of him so I could share it when I got home. He wasn’t looking at me when I took the first one, so then he goes “Did you get that?” and turns and just stares at me. So I took another one, and at this point, I’m dying laughing.

Then we start loading, and since we’re one of the front rows, we’re the last to load. As we’re getting on, he goes “You look EXACTLY like someone I know from New Jersey!” And I’m like “Oh yeah? Neat!”

We saw him again another day, and I really hope he'll be there when we go back in May!

I have had a few CM's complain about work and such. A few days ago a cm at Whispering Canyon complained to me about some guests that were leaving (that were rude guests, I suppose...it still felt odd standing there listening to her).
But omg the worst was our breakfast at Chef Mickey's last week. Whoever was playing Goofy needed to be sent home!! I noticed he was just walking, plain as can be with no character or anything to the first few tables before us. So as he swings around from the table behind ours over to where we are, he let out a very audible moan. Like a "UUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH." He then pushed my kids out of the way to sign their autograph book, stood there like a stump for the photo, then did this weird finger point thing and walked away. After he walked away I told my dh who was filming about the moan (because dh was across the table, and honestly is half deaf anyway), and then my ds said he continued to make weird noises as they took their photo.
Ir was SO ODD. And Goofy is my favorite, I even had a Goofy shirt on. He was the first character we saw there, and it just ruined the whole meal for me. DD is only 5 and she loves the characters and she just seemed confused when he walked off with his weird behavior.

:confused:Ugh that Ariel is awful! I would have been really disappointed to see her. I understand that they're human and not everyone can get the voices spot on but she wasn't even trying. It sounded like the kids went up to an average teenager at the mall and talked to her and she just happened to mention Tink. The funny thing is I work with a girl who want to go down and be a character, she's had one audition and is utterly convinced she'll be down there as Cinderella anytime now, but I don't think she understand how it really works. She's a compulsive tanner, cakes makeup on top of it, can't get a sentence out of her mouth without saying "like" 13 times and has this weird donkey braying laugh. She's done her Cinderella for me, and it's tragic. I've also never heard her be quiet for more than 2 minutes at at shot, so I don't think a furry character would work either. After watching that Ariel, maybe I'm wrong!

While sitting on a bench at MGM, alone and waiting for my family to meet me several princesses came out for a meet and greet and sign autograph books. They were all close enough to be within speaking distances of each other. Kids came running to them all except for Mulan for some reason.
She was all alone for only about a minute, but before anyone lined up in front of her she puts her arms out, looks across at another princess and says sadly..."But I saved all of China..."

Still makes me laugh to this day.

An out of character experience but a good one

I had a friend who moved to Orlando. She went down to do the DCP and ended up staying and doing seasonal. Well she is friends with a lot of the shorter characters including Tink. So we were in Pixie Hallow just for kicks and giggles one day and Tink saw me and started crying/tearing up. I hadnt seen Tink in so long. She whispered "i missed you to me." :goodvibes

Not a character, but we had a real interaction with a CM checking our purchase at a shop. DH commented on one of the pins on her lanyard, a little armadillo. She said he was the first person to ever notice it, and she didn't even know what it was from. DH said he thought it was from an old Pluto cartoon. So she took it off to give it to him! DH said he couldn't take it, because he didn't have one to trade... but she just waved him off and said "Aw, they just have big boxes of pins for us backstage, just so we always have some to give and trade... keep it!" :goodvibes

On our 2nd trip (2006) we were in the Toy shop in the England (Epcot) when Alice came out. She started talking to my DS (7 at the time), and after their converstaion she asked where we were from. We told her Alabama. She smiled and told us (DH & me) that she was from Mississippi and that DS and his southern accent made her think of home.

Back in 2007 at AK, DW and I were getting pictures with Goofy after entering the park. Just before the picture was snapped, Goofy turned quickly so that the picture would have shown him kissing DW. Well, the only problem with that is DW's forehead is exactly the height of Goofy's teeth. Goofy's right tooth and DW's forehead met squarely with a VERY loud whack!

DW doubled over from laughing so hard and after Goofy put his head back on straight, all we could hear was muffled laughter coming from inside the suit. Before we walked away (but still laughing) we could hear the guy inside the Goofy suit quietly say "I'm so sorry".

The funniest thing is the picture of the moment because the CM snapped it at exactly the moment of impact. I tried to find it to post it here but no luck. :confused3

In Dec we saw Jasmine and Aladdin at MK. It was cold and my boys had on their Eagles sweatshirts and Jasmine commented that she was a Colts fan but that Aladdin was an Eagles fan. I got the feeling she was about to say he was from the Philly area but she caught herself and got back more into character by saying she liked whatever team Aladdin liked but that Raja liked the Bengals. It was very funny.

This is one of the best things I've ever read

..."but I saved all of China" Its so easy to picture, I can hear her saying it and its awesome:lmao:

dd had one of the princesses at crt take her napkin and wipe her face off before her pic was taken. it was very cute, not really out of character i suppose, but sweet nontheless.

im sure theres more that i cant think of..but i love hearing them!

I've got another one, it's not Disney, but we all love all the theme parks, don't we? :lovestruc;)

So anyway, I was at US and getting some pics near the BTTF car (BTTF is my favourite film), at this point the 'doc' character comes biking out, so I get a pic with him. As he's leaving, I say "I really wish they hadn't gotten rid of the BTTF ride", and he turns to me, completely deadpan, and says "but it's still there.... you're just not thinking 4th dimensionally" and then bikes off!

For anyone who is a fan of the film, you'll get the reference :cool2:

Several years ago, a friend of mine was staying at one of the resorts. I made plans to meet up with her for breakfast and she decided she wanted to eat at Cape May Cafe. While we were getting pictures with Goofy, he totally broke character (and probably several Disney rules) and asked her what resort she was staying at, and then asked for her room number (which she didn't give him). Goofy is not supposed to talk...we were both absolutely shocked and disappointed, but she never reported him.

We were at MK a few weeks ago and wandered into Tony's restaurant and found Peter Pan in the lobby - totally alone (aside from his handler). We said "wow - it's Peter Pan" and he replied "yep - here I am, no one comes to see me"; we said "we love you Peter Pan, without you there would be no Tinker Bell"; his response was where I think he was too far out of character...he said "yea, now that Tinker Bell talks, I dont bring as much in, my value has gone down - no one likes me anymore".

Poor, poor Peter Pan.
