Ready to sell DVC, not happy with it

Actually we can get a 3 bedroom fully furnished, very upscale beach cottage with beautiful large screened porch on the emerald waters of 30-A near Seaside for $625 a week, many times a year.

So yes it is possibly to vacation for a week very nicely in other places than DVC.

Actually, if BWV Dreamin would have read 3) correctly she would have seen the OP didn't say she could stay deluxe for $700. a week. She said she could apply the $700 towards a vacation every year and/or that would pay for 2 nights at the Poly.

Never said I could find a week at an upscale resort. I did say that I could get maybe 2 nights at the POLY every year for $700. Probably more like $800 though. Read what I wrote please. That, to me, is a better use of that money.

I am very aware of the market and have watched my Disney stock plunge then rebound a bit. I understand what DVC is doing by selling rooms for cash, I just don't totally agree with it and it is contradictory to their sales pitch.

HAHAHA get into AKL or VWL at 7 months!?!? That must be some good pixie dust you are on. We normally book right at the 7 month mark, and have NEVER ONCE had those options available at any time. We travel in Oct and early November, not necessary peak times at WDW except for BCV and BWV due to F&W.

This past trip we caught the bus between 830 and 10am from BWV to MK and/or HS. Peak travel times as the parks are opening. Never a problem for the return, always a problem with the pickup. It may be subjective, but the bus service, IN MY OPINION, is terrible at DVC resorts. Never had a problem anywhere else.

The only expense I have in owning is the maintenance dues. I paid cash for the membership. I would rather pay Disney $3000-4000 a year to stay at a week or so at a nice, well maintained resort with good transportation than deal without the hassle of DVC. So expense is not the issue. DVC used to be a good way to vacation at Disney.

So basically, you are way off base.

Sorry, no way you booked a standard and they give you boardwalk view. Nope, they are two different booking catagories, and NO WAY would you get BW view for standard points......

What you consider good use of your money is up for debate....Poly will gladly take your money....

Sorry, uhm, your booking in a HIGH DEMAND DVC timeframe, that's your problem. If you normally travel at those timeframes, you better own there. Even still, AKV is the 3rd biggest resort, you shouldn't have a problem there. You will need to own at VWL

What bus did you get on to go to HS? There is no bus that goes there from BWV.....where exactly did you stay? Again, 8:30 to 10am is PEAK bus time. You may have to wait somewhat longer during those times.....

All of Disney owned property, whether at a DVC resort or CRO is operated by the same housekeeping, bus drivers, etc. Where else are you talking about? Offsite?

Yeah, I am not sure BMW is off base, either...just sayin. In any event, if you aren't happy, then by all means sell your points. There are plenty of others who are very satisfied with their membership that are willing to buy your points at a big discount compared to buying direct from Disney.

Also, since we only get trash and towel,maybe they should make the cleaning items a little more accessible. I called to get a vacuum. Yes, I have little kids that make little crumbs when they eat. I will gladly vacuum myself and not have Disney wait 7 days fr a full cleaning so that the crumbs attract critters. Just don't give me such a hassle to get a vacuum from housekeeping.

Aren't there vacuums in all DVC rooms? There have been in every DVC room I've stayed in at OKW?

A weeks vacation is implied here......potatoe, P-o-t-toe. Yeah, I can apply $700 towards a stay at nearby Six Flags....not the same vacation. Oops, they are bankrupt. Forgot about that...

Really? In what state, and where? I would be quite interested in renting a "...very upscale beach cottage" for $625 a week, assuming it is actually warm enough to use the beach.

If it is not in season, you cannot compare it to an "in season" resort stay. WDW is always "in season" in that there is no time of year where the main attraction is not usable.

I apologize, we took a bus from AKL to HS. The buses we took from BWV were to MK only and waited 35-40 minutes for it during peak times. They weren't full, just late. You would think there would be MORE buses during peak times and less buses during off-peak.

She/he didn't say peak WDW travel time, but peak DVC travel time. Lots and lots of DVCers like to travel during the Food and Wine festival and makes it hard to get rooms in the DVC resorts at that time. I'm sure he/she would agree with the dates you listed as being the most crowded in the parks.

Oct/Nov isn't peak travel time for WDW, but it is VERY popular for DVC- so it makes getting rooms at DVC resorts somewhat difficult. So while not considered peak by WDW it is defitnely busy for DVC members.

Personally, I have NEVER waited 35 minutes for a bus at any resort or park DVC resort or not peak season or not.

It is certainly possible if a standard room had to go out of service for a problem and there wasn't another standard room available.

But wouldn't you have the same type of bus issues at any other Disney resort? No resort is immune from transportation problems, even the monorail resorts. The trains can certainly have problems to take them out of service. Boat service can have problems, too.

It depends upon the resort. Food and Wine Fest tends to fill the EPCOT resorts pretty quickly.

I don't see how they'll be making any $$, though. Our local SF (Fiesta Texas) is offering six days for $50

And a season pass good at ALL SF parks for $70 ($60 if you purchase 4 or more).

Wow - not sure if they were offering that (six day ticket) at ours up in Chicago, think a seasons pass was maybe $75. Had a company picnic up there last month and got rained out, but picked up the twicket for $20 and will go back when the weathers a bit better.

$20 to park and prices that make WDW food appear cheap are the only way they're going to make any money.......2 years ago we had 3 hot dogs, 3 fries, a beer and 2 pops and it was $45

Remember that Kidani has just opened, and will be completely open this Fall. In the future, members should be able to get an AKV room pretty regularly if they aren't picky about building or view category.
