Ready to kick MIL to the curb... (rant)

Well it sounds like ds has lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Maybe he can spend a few days with them!

Oh, the in-law thing! My FIL always drove me crazy. That was the reason (in my book any way) that we left NJ and came to FL. I just couldn't deal with him constantly!! He has seen my ds once...when he was a baby.

I had one set of wonderful grandparents and then the other set HATED my brother and me. As we became older, it became more and more apparent. I'm just glad that we didn't live anywhere near them. One year when we lived in VA, we drove back "home" to Wisconsin for Christmas. Packed up all of the x-mas presents and everything. Had a wonderful and very special Christmas with the one side of the family, but the other was another story. I understand that Christmas is to give and not receive. But our presents that year were very intersting. My brother received underwear and I can't remember what I recieved. The other grandkids received toys and all the stuff grandparents would normaly spoil the grandkids with. They would harldy ever come and see us and would only call if someone died. I'm thankful for the wonderful grandparents that I did have. I had no connection emotional for the other set. I guess the only thing good that came out of it was when they passed away, I was level headed enough to take care of things for my parents.

Maude, don't let her get away with it!!

You & DH should sit her down and tell her just how much she's hurting your DS. Tell her how unreliable she is, and about how hurt YOU are. Then tell her that if she would like to see her grandson, she had better shape up.

I had 3 sets of grandparents, and every single one did that. I know exactly what it feels like to be the kid who knows that Grandma and Grandpa don't love them. I can tell you without a doubt that it would have been so much better had my mom laid down the law with them and then removed me from the situation if they didn't comply.

My heart would have been broken a whole lot less.

Is there any way you can adjust your budget and bring your kiddo with you?

My inlaws were like that at first, and it started with their own kids. They had 2 sons and 2 daughters. The daughters were treated special, the boys were always an afterthought. Right now, they are much better, but my youngest sil's kids are the favorites and everyone knows it.

Luckily, they do love my girls too, but it's pretty obvious sometimes. It's those times especially when I wish my mom were still around to dote on them.
