Trip Report June 26 - July 1
Day One (Saturday, June 26)
Getting There:

At midnight, DH and I are out in the driveway struggling with our slide out that wanted to jump off the track every time we moved it. I had pulled it out so I could make the beds and "save some time" later. We gave up on it around 2am and I was feeling like our trip was going to have to be postponed.

Later in the morning, our neighbor came over and he and DH tightened up the track and everything seemed back to normal. But, just in case, we called the Master RV guy and he assured us that he would be around if we needed any help while we were in Orlando. Good enough for us! The trip was back on and we headed down the highway around 10:30am. Better late than never!
We had a smooth drive and reached Orlando by late afternoon.

I had not completed the early online check-in service. I had planned to, but then we had all that trouble with our slide, so I never did. Luckily, there was no wait and we were able to do the standard check-in without any delay. Plus, we were assigned to the 1600 loop which was what I wanted! Hooray!

We made our way to site 1640; one of the only two sites left in that loop. I became concerned when I saw that we were right behind the bus stop. However, we ended up loving this site. It was very roomy, partially shaded and the location was super convenient. The bus noise was minimal and it was fun to watch people coming and going.

After setting up camp, I had some business to tend to. I needed to redeem my Visa Disney Dollars so we headed off for the MK. Since we were newbies to the Fort, we were totally clueless about transportation! We actually thought we could drive our truck down to the marina and park it while we hopped a ferry. Wrong! We ended up driving all around and finally parking at the outpost and catching that bus all the way back to the settlement and walking to the marina. Live and Learn. We waited awhile for the boat and then had a nice breezy ride to MK. On the way over, my DS came up with a game of “punch buggy” monorail style which would ensue for the duration of our trip. Red One, Punch! Blue One, Punch! And he could spot them a mile away! I told DS that he needed to use that attention for detail in the classroom! Anyway, we made it over to the MK guest relations window and I was able to take care of everything I needed without much wait.
Next, I suggested that we go check out the self-serve ice cream machine at WL that TCD raved about. There were no objections to that so we set off for WL. I had never seen WL before and it was awesome! Well worth the stop if you have the time. And, the ice cream machine was still there, just like TCD said. We loaded up our bowls with chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. It was sooooo yummy and was just what we needed on that hot and busy afternoon.

To end our day, we hung out and swam at the Meadows Pool. It was great! I am a wimp when it comes to cold water so let me tell you that the temperature of this pool was perfect. It was just cool enough to feel refreshing! We would end most of our days this way. The pool stayed open until midnight and we were there almost every night of our trip until closing.
