Day Six (Thursday, July 1)
All Good Things Must Come to an End
It was time to pack it all up and head back home. It would have been nice to stay longer but at the same time we were missing our doggies that stayed behind with friends. They are much too big to bring camping and I doubt that I could keep them quiet anyway. They go bonkers for squirrels!
I helped DH put as much away as possible and then me and the kids took one more trip down to the beach. I had a balloon I wanted to release for a fellow DISer who lost his son this year. I had taken such great care of this balloon for several days, however, on our walk down to the beach my DD noticed that one of the ears was beginning to deflate. Oh my goodness! How did this happen? This did not set well with my type A (more like B+) personality. But, there was nothing that could be done about it now so all I could do was give it a try and see what happened. I walked down to the edge of the beach and let it go. There it went, slowly at first and in a zig zag pattern and then, when it got up high enough, it took off straight through the big puffy clouds until I couldnt see it any longer. It made me think. Isnt this how it is. We leave this earth a little wounded and worn and our path is not always straight but we can still soar off successfully into the great beyond. It was a good feeling.
My kids and I enjoyed the beach and dock one more time and then headed down to the Meadows Trading Post. My DD wanted to pick up a Fort Wilderness charm she had seen there. While there, I couldnt resist buying them Mickey Mouse Ears ice cream. I watched in envy while they devoured it. Then, we waited for a bus and took it all the way to the outpost. I looked for our site while riding through and it was already occupied by another happy camper. Thats life! We met up with DH at the outpost and started for home. I quietly smiled as I read the back of the Welcome to Disney sign when we passed by it. It said See you Real Soon! I certainly hope so!
Maybe I'll see you there next time too!
